Our lawn just started to grow. The hedge is getting green and will need it’s first trim in a few weeks. The boat needs painting, brightwork and engine service. The flower beds need mulching. It’s a busy but wonderful time of the year.

I replaced the tine and wheel axle oil seals last year. A royal PITA given the metal construction. They can’t be pried off, rather have to pushed out from the inside. The good news is all the parts can still be had even for my 1955 model.

My father bought one new around 1979. I used it quite a lot and thought it worked okay. The friction disc reverse setup isn't great IMO, especially since the control lever flexed so much while reversing.

A few years later I bought my first Gravely Model L (built in 1964) with a "rotary cultivator" attachment (tiller) and never looked back. Does a much better job and has a real reverse. Tractor can be used for other jobs - mowing, plowing, snow removal, generating, pumping, spraying, and much more.

I had Gravelys for years. I had a old early 5hp one from 1944, and a mid 60's 6.6hp "bitza" that was a LI model. [slower speed then the reg ones. They are TANKS!!  They dont take kindly to fools though, and in todays world they could never make them.
