Whatcha buying ?
« on: May 13, 2023, 05:48:19 AM »
We happened to be at the local powerhouse motorsports dealer - and their showroom is absolutely packed with new units.

This Kawasaki Vulcan 900 was on sale (Guzzi content) and the paint scheme caught my eye.  Laced spoke wheels and white wall tires.
How cool is that ?

We took it home - and put about a hundred smiles on it (so far).

Beauty!

What is the valve check interval on the VN900?

I am waiting for the Super Meteor to arrive so I can take a close look at it.  Still want to test ride a Honda Fury.

For how and where I ride the Scrambler XE keeps bubbling to the top, but that is a lot of money for a standard bike.

I walked into our local I sell it all dealer last week expecting to find a full showroom. Nope,  it was almost empty, but he did have a lot of ATV's for the first time in years.

Tried to buy this V50-III this morning. About 7am, it listed for $500.00 (!) on fbmp about 20 min from me.   Legit ad, not spam.   Had a great talk with seller’s boyfriend who listed it for her.   She was not riding the bike and he was no longer interested in upkeep & fine tuning if she wasn’t riding it…  so it was going away.  But he was out for the morning  and would call as soon as he got to her place early afternoon.

Then, just before lunch, he messaged & backed out of the deal.  Apparently, after endless calls, he & his girlfriend realized it was far underpriced & didn’t want to “give it away”  so she now wanted to keep it and restore it.

Didn’t need it, but couldn’t pass on a local deal like that.  Maybe next time…

THAT would’ve been a steal…..guess Karma kept you on the light side.

I’ve got a ‘77 Convert headed my way via HaulBikes - expect delivery after 6/1. Have been doing lots of reading re these machines - seem almost universally loved, and should be just the ticket for my advancing hand osteoarthritis.
Expect to hear from me with questions.

I bought our first rubbermount Sporty kinda that way.

A Toyota dealer a state over had won it in some give away from Manheim Auto Auction.

So their staff, ignorant of motorcycle pricing, looked up the MSRP and listed it a couple of grand cheaper to generate interest like they might have a car. I mean, like are you kidding me? Thank you I'll take it.

I saw the add the morning it was placed, called them, and gave them a deposit on a credit card.

When I showed a week or so later to pick it up (with a cashier's check for the balance) they admitted they'd realized their error as the calls kept coming in that first morning.

But they honored the deal.

This one may not be done yet.  After they backed out of selling, we exchanged cordial messages.  I agreed it was priced very low, told him I understood their change of heart and wished them well.  I was second person to call on ad.

Then ad changed to pending.  He said he didn’t do computers well, so figured it was more difficulty.  A few minutes ago, ad changed back to available.  So I messaged again.  Maybe tomorrow will bring a new adventure…

I've seen that a couple of times.  You contact them to say you will buy it and they say "I'm getting so many calls I'm raising the price!"  At that point I usually say "good luck!"

I consider that a better outcome than getting involved in a bidding war.
