New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
Wife uses PETES kcup in the Keurig coffee maker. I don’t like caffeine free very much but honestly I can’t really tell the difference in the flavor.
Sorry for NGC but I have been given a task to find the best decaf for home brewing. Wife's kidneys could be better so Dr. told her to stop caffeine. Thanks guys.My 5 Guzzies thank you and my wife thanks you.
The method of brewing is as important as the coffee. We switched to a percolator several years ago and have not looked back. Now coffee out of to a drip or especially Keurig taste like dirty water. We also found that we liked store brand coffee made in the percolator as much or better than several of the 3X expensive boutique coffees we were enjoying out of drip machine. Moka pot works is good too at brewing a bold cup.
I do miss perk coffee. I have a percolator I got decades ago, but the darn thing is LOUD! I have a stove top one, but my work schedule doesnt really allow me to baby sit it on the stove in the early AM. What do you use? As for the brand coffee. They seem to vary in the perk depending on the grind. On the decaf subject. I dont drink much, but when I do I dont care for the low buck store brand decafs. Most any other more premium brands are fine.
Giant Grocery store brand coffee and a Presto 12 cup percolator. Yes it is a bit noisy but I can hear when it’s done. Actually have come to welcome the sound it’s like morning music.
Been going 1/2 caf and decaf for a while now. Currently using an Aeropress and Kicking Horse decaf which is a darker roast than most but still smooth. I can tell a difference between Swiss water processed and others which chemically remove the caffeine.https://www.amazon.com/Kicking-Horse-Coffee-Decaf-Process/dp/B0027Z8V4S?pd_rd_w=XGwkE&content-id=amzn1.sym.724fac2e-0491-4f7a-a10d-2221f9a8bc9a&pf_rd_p=724fac2e-0491-4f7a-a10d-2221f9a8bc9a&pf_rd_r=PK1D1Y3FPQWYZQTMKYXE&pd_rd_wg=nmbov&pd_rd_r=1b3b3971-2ff3-400c-a703-301925a90f85&pd_rd_i=B0027Z8V4S&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_grid_rp_0_1_ec_t and this is the Aeropress: https://www.amazon.com/Aeropress-Original-bitterness-American-espresso/dp/B0047BIWSK/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=aeropress&qid=1684764133&sr=8-5&th=1
I’m one who can’t tell the difference between regular and decaf. For me the key is small containers of fresh roasted beans ground just before brewing.
Agreed. Fresh ground can make average coffee taste good. What matters for decaf is 1) grind your own beans and 2) be sure to get Swiss water processed. If it doesn't say that on the label it's chemically processed by soaking beans in methylene chloride or ethyl acetate, both of which are suspected to be carcinogenic in larger doses. Also makes the coffee bitter and/or sour tasting. Swiss water is more expensive which is why decaf usually tastes lousy when you buy a cup somewhere.
