That’s pretty decent for such a lightweight.

Yeah, as you can see from the takeoff run, Bullet (as in slower than a speeding) has weight carrying ability to spare..

How is that turn from the taxiway to the takeoff run achieved? Is the rear wheel steerable? Do you brake one of the front wheels?
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

I see that there are disc brakes on the mains and no doubt differential braking.

I used to help with a small rally many years ago. The star was a guy with a Star Shooter stunt type plane doing fly overs doing rolls etc just off the deck. He threw out a few flour bombs on the group for good measure. He came by later, I told him that there was an FAA inspector in the crowd. The color drained from his face. I then told him the guy didn't care. We also had a howitzer that fired bowling balls out of sight. Fun times.

You picked the correct motor, much better sounding than any twin for it's purpose.

Yeah, that is a lot of the fun with this thing. I have enough VW stuff laying around that I could have built a half VW for practically free. (Guzzi content)  I was out in SoCal hanging out with Mark at MG Classics talking about it and how expensive the little radial was. He said, "You planning on putting that money in your casket with you? You going to be eating beenie weenies for a couple of years if you get it?"  "Good point, Mark.."
It has a lot of character, and easily pulls a big prop. What's not to like?

I looked at the price, if it continuously performs, worth the price. Makes the plane. Hey, you can use it in another plane.

I can't really add praise here. So I'll ask a question that weighs on me. Given that motor, and except for the instruments, is there anything else in your plane that could not have been built in the 1920's? It is amazing.

Nope, what I envisioned when I started this project was "very early aeroplane."  It has a more modern airfoil (30s) and some aerodynamic improvements from that time, but it is built with classic techniques. The powerplant is the major improvement.

Yeah, it's gone up $1300 since I got mine. Still, not bad considering the price of new aircraft engines.

Yeah until you are working next to the test cell. It gets old after a couple of hours. However I was camped in the California Central Valley a couple of weeks ago, one of the ag planes was running a radial. Beautiful music compared to the turbo props.   :azn:

I admire the work and dedication it took to build it to completion . It turned out quite well, didn’t it?

Yeah, it turned out about like I envisioned, and flies better than I expected. Thanks for the stick bird.. It was 2 years of pretty steady work during the plague that cannot be mentioned. I could have finished it last summer, but then what would I have done last Winter? First flight was an unusual warm and calm day in Feb.
