tonti tanks?

I'm trying to determine if a LM3 tank is interchangeable with a T, T3, SP etc. tank. I have always liked the lines of the LM3 tank and am thinking of using one on a project bike, but I don't have a tank to test fit before buying one. Anyone have experience / knowledge they can share? Thanks!

The tank will bolt right up, no issues. The t-3 seat will need a little tweaking if you were to keep it, but that might lo0k goofy.

Yes will fit, just need to be aware if your putting a lemans 3 tank on a t3 you will need to move the ignition barrel as the fuel cap flap and locking  bracket will foul with the ignition barrel.

Goes for any of the tanks with a flap over the fuel cap

I've got a V7S seat and a V7 sport seat and I'm thinking of using one of those.
Good to know about interference with ignition switch barrel, didn't think of that. Have to consider the options there. So, where's the switch on the LM3?

Just came to me. Switch is in the instrument cluster / dash. Easy enough to relocate the T3 barrel though. Just working on a vision right now anyway.

The Tonti tanks will fit various other models with exception.  They will not just drop into place with out adding or taking away something.  Along with a way to secure them to the frame.

The Leman's tank is mounted in two different configurations.  One uses two tabs at the front of the tank that go under studs on the steering neck.  One uses pockets in the tunnel that slide over rubber bumpers on the frame.  The back part has two types of mounting points.  One used a rubber strap, one used a screw.

The same goes for the SP and T style tanks. 

Then you have the seat/tank relationship.  The Leman's had two types of seating positions.  One has a high back section of the seat with the front of the tank sitting higher than the back.  The other model had the tank more level and the seat more level.  While the seat and tanks look the same on both bikes, they are fitted together different and mounted different.

I mounted the older tank with the newer seat.  I had to use a heat gun to reshape the seat pan to match the frame and fit the back of the tank.

John, that looks really nice.  I did a similar fit-up on an EV, but used a later Stucchi 'comfort seat' that matches pretty well.  i cut down the hinge at the back of the seat to get it to fit correctly.  It's a work in progress...or a project, whatever you want to call it.  It's a hoot to ride, though.
