I'm ready to Roll out to the Rally!
That Norge looks totally sorted.
What windshield is that, SemperVee?
Hey, friends. I've been mostly absent, here, for many years, but I am among the knuckleheads putting on this rally. Looking forward to seeing many longtime friends.John Day is, IMO, a magical place, with great riding and really nice ranch-country scenery. Grant County Fairgrounds is perfect for the rally, and the city very accommodating. Tent camping and some RV spaces on-site. Motels are booking fast, because of us, plus a big little league tournament and a golf tournament. Get 'em while you can. We'll have all the usual diversions (bike show, field games, awards, etc.), plus a few curated rides (oe road, and one for the more adventurous), a beer/wine tent by a local microbrew outfit, a fire pit, a movie, and some presenters we hope you'll find interesting (Dave Richardson, Nolan Woodbury, Bill Ross, Jay from DMC Sidecars, and a few others were still working on).I love to cook and am vain enough to think I'm pretty good at it, so that was hard to give up, but the group bdecided to in the interest of making the event less tiring for all our volunteers. We're having Juniper Smokehouse, in Burns cater suppers Friday and Saturday. Menu still TBD, but will likely be pulled pork and fixings Friday and tri-tip and BBQ chicken Saturday. Saturday breakfast by the local volunteer firefighters. We'll likely have some pastries, bagels, fruit and yogurt for the send-off Sunday.I'm hoping we'll see many of you there....
This looks like a great opportunity to bring my Guzzi up to Oregon for some epic riding! For those who rely on hotels/motels, you may want to make those reservations in the near future. My searches for those type of accommodations identified that some are already sold out and others have a limited availability for these dates.
No real way to tell until there are some numbers for pre-registrations. Past Nationals had about 400+-. Most people E of the Mississippi or E of the Appalachias won't make it.
Not many people like doing the long touring trip. We'll see. Usually these have been a large regional rally. Still a fun way to meet Moto Guzzi people from all over.
