That is "stunning!!"  :thumb:   :boozing:

I also like the V7 Stone "Special Edition" in red / black, seen recently at the Guzzi dealer in Prescott, AZ! :thumb:

Why do they use a 18” front wheel? IMHO it would look and ride better with 17” F&R

Same reason they hardly changed anything for previous Racer/Sport sub-models through the past 15 years, perhaps? I don’t think they’re worried about performance modifications—just a new paint job and a cafe fairing that they already have in their catalog.

The V7-850 models all have 18" front wheels across the board.

I think it looks great!

Too bad this bike isn't even close to being a "racer" model.  If they would have put rear sets and clip ons I might have given it a closer look.

What exactly do you think the change will do?

I mean, I don't have any complaints with the handling of the current 17" wheel.

Are you simply saying that a little more sidewall will soften the ride slightly?

What other benefits are there?

did you mean current 18” ?
In my limited experience a sport bike handles better with 17” all around, an adventure bike maybe not. I guess the V7 is neither. There must be a reason the V100, Norge and Griso have 17” front?
I don’t think Ducati has a single bike with a 18” and my V11 Lemans was great handling with the 17, same with my Buell Uly, both now gone..

Ahhh, ooops, so current is 18 - yeah, same question - but eliminate my speculation on sidewall (it was a swag anyway).

And, yeah it's not a sport bike, it's not an adventure bike.

It's a naked standard in the great tradition of do-it-alls. Master of none, and that's fine.

I really don't see a need here.

But I equally don't see a need for rearsets and clipons for the same reasons.

Wish they would’ve spent the resources and focus on making a racer out of the V85 motor and chassis. That setup seems like its due for a new chapter. Plus, according to the spec sheets, it would yield a potentially more powerful naked sport.

It's a good looking scooter.  I'd be proud to own one.  I always disliked the eagle motif on the 850 headlights but with the fairing it looks more "of a piece."

Wheel diameter?????  Well, I've got a Ducati with 17" front and rear and a V7III with stock 18 and 17.  The Guzzi handles nicer on medium speed twisty roads and is just more fun to ride.

She's a looker for sure.
Back in the 60s and 70s, most bikes had a 19 inch front and 18 inch rear and skinny tires.  It was just how it was done.  It gave the bikes a distinctive look.  I think MG's choice of an 18 for the front does a good job of carrying that vintage look with a little less gyroscopic effect than a period correct 19 inch would.
I like their strategy with these bikes.  Make em pretty.  They are not performance bikes so they don't need the same technology.

Well, I created my own with the Carbon Dark anyway.  I find the racer riding position to be more comfortable than the standard V7III riding position.

Comfort.  Bike was a little cramped for me until I put on the LSL clubman bars and Sato Racing rear sets that emulate the V7 Racer riding position.

When I had it in stock form I was riding with my toes on the pegs and elbows very bent.

I suspect from observation (not just personal bias cause it works that way for me) that rearsets and clipons are MORE UNCOMFORTABLE to more people than not.

Yeah, there are outliers.

And, like many things, a swap of a few parts could accomplish the desired result.

I've already the rearsets and some lsl speed bars and the MG single seat. Just need that bikini fairing and I'm done. Don't see the perseeved issue the 18" front. Fit a decent 110/80 in place of the oem 100 section and it handles great.

Because BNG.

God forbid they throw inverted forks, dual disks, and 17-inch front wheels on a sporty V7.

I must be one of the outliers.

My 2004 Breva 750 had a perfect fit for me. That included a 17" front wheel and tire.(110/70 X 17 IIRC)
And even though my Milano V7111 has Breva 750 handlebars, Sato rearsets, and the forks slid up in the triple tree by 10mm, the fit and the steering does not quite duplicate the Breva in ease of turn in and light neutral feel. So although you can as an owner make some limited corrections my experience is that duplicating the front end feel was close but not as enjoyable as the Breva.
I also think the 17" wheel could perhaps open up more tire choice possibilities.

And of course all of this varies by individual taste.

I’m not sure about regulations to certify bikes for various markets . Possibly a wheel change might require recertification in some markets . Also I’d wager there’s an economy factor at play . Same reason it’s fitted with bias ply tires

Ten years ago, there was a bit of a fad, V7 Classic owners were fitting 750 Breva wheels.

Seemed to work well for them.

There is a fine line that when crossed makes it no longer a classic is what I am guessing Moto Guzzi is thinking.

They could come out with a different sport bike based on the 850 platform but I'm thinking the parent company won't let them.

Yeah, there are outliers.

There is very little difference between the Stone and Racer and IMO the racer puts you in a better position to ride into the wind.  The foot position, grip position, and weight on the seat are much more comfortable.

image upload

Compare that with a ZX10R sport bike and you can see that the racer is nowhere close to a sport bike in ergonomics.

I found the stock form of my Carbon Dark to be fine for in town speeds, but not anything faster.  The wind blast had me leaning forward with an awkward bend in my arms and too much bend in the hips.  The below photo is the rider on the stone leaning the same as the neutral position on the racer.

Now if I lean forward on the Racer at higher speeds.

And lean forward the same on the Stone one can see that the stone really cramps you up.

upload pic

I guess I can see why many end up adding a windshield to the stone so they don't have to lean into the wind.

It’s all hugely subjective.  I find the lean forward position uncomfortable at all speeds, sure it looks cool,  but it  never worked great for me. I much prefer the sit up and beg style.

How many ways can you reshape, repaint same bike w/o price increase. It's about marketing the same product.
What is Corsa about it? Paint ? No Corsa engine? Same Chinese parts?
Sorry about the negatives, but years ago it meant something!!
