MECUM Las Vegas auction Jan. 24-27, 2024

Another annual event for the Southwest....The big MECUM vintage motorcycle auction in Las Vegas!    Always a fun time, and this year, more than 2,000 vintage motorcycles of all shapes and sizes will go across the block!!! 

We'll be there on Thurs. and Fri. this year with "The Usual Suspects" from Arizona...

Last year, there were 1,750 bikes that went over the blocks...and this year, they predict over 2,000!!

One of Mecum's guys is trying to sell his V11 LeMans Corsa Rosso.  I can give anyone his number, beautify bike, salvage title  $4500.

Otherwise, it'll be at the auction.  He was responsible for Auctioning Steve McQueen's Husky for another company for $250k.  Someday I'd like to go there.

Definitely a bucket list trip for me. When I finally build the two Laverdas I’m going to haul a half dozen bikes out there and cash out. In the meantime some good sideline reporting will be appreciated JJ.

If you're serious about auctioning, I can give you the phone number for the fellow that works there.  I'm sure he'd like to work it out with you.  Nice guy.  He was a local Guzzi rider, got on with Mecum and moved to the company.

Plenty of interesting Italian motorcycles up for sale this year. I wish I was going but can’t make it work this year, I was thinking of bringing a couple bikes I don’t use to sell with hopes of wining the bid on a few early machines. In particular I am really interested in the prewar Benelli 250 single with all its ‘patina’. The gear train driving the valve train is lovely on these machines.

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but to me this bike is gorgeous, that right side engine cover does it for me.

It’s looking pretty good to me, too.  That’s quite a bike, just like it is.  I had been previously distracted by the Ducati 175 Gran Sport that’s also in the auction…

The prewar Benelli 250 sold for a good price… for the buyer.
Man I wish I had been there.

The early Airone (Astorino) went for good dollar, it’s identical to mine.
