More info is definitely needed!

Electronic tachs require three wires - +12V, ground, signal (from the coil negative).

Additionally, another wire (or two) would be for illumination.

Let us know what you've got and we can get more specific.

Guess it's time to warm up my crystal ball. It might take a while since it has tubes.  :wink:

cheap Chinese,  unbranded.  I identified the + & - for illumination, that leaves 3 wires.  Many pics on the web but all are different,  colored wires going to different places.  eg.  black is ground on one pic, green is ground on another.

What colors are the illumination wires? Red is usually +12 and black ground. The same two colors are probably Tach plus and ground, which leaves the other for the signal.

At that point, there's probably a jumper or switch to configure to the number of cylinders.

I would wire it like an EV of that year, seen as you had no tach on bike.

 Ha...I had  wired it 2 different  ways, (green ground, black ground)  both times smoke came from under the tank.  So I thought  maybe i should wait and ask for help.

 :rolleyes:

These are colors from wire diagrams in service book-------------------------

Lite bulb-- += Yellow=power/lites       Rpm -- += Red/Black- wire is positive for idiot lites
                -=  Black=Negative                        -= Yellow/Black- wire goes through resistor(one way) to ECU injector pulse goes to negative on gauge
                                                                   S = Bkack- Negative

 Several  various tach instructions have the resistor wire just wrapped around a spark plug wire..who woulda though that will be enough.     :boozing:

It goes to ECU, you can look up the pin #.

 Pin# ?  You mean open up the ECU and connect the sender wire somewhere?     :huh:
