Plastic Repair on Fairing Exterior

I’ve repaired ABS on the backside where looks don’t matter much, but is there anything I can do to repair the Lario’s fairing to where I can get it back to looking like new’ish on the exterior side? The fairing has begun sagging and bouncing a little due to the upper mounts being weak, and the counterforce of the immovable brake reservoir is leading to the damage, or so I’ve surmised since this all happened before I bought the bike.

Fiberglass backing on the inside > Bondo? > sand and polish?

Also: looks like there already was a previous repair attempt, based off the melted look of the plastic.

I've had success on small repairs with ABS glue or acetone and LEGO blocks.  Rough up the original surface, mix up a thick paste, and spread it on.  Once it sets, grind or sand it even and repeat until smooth.

I haven't tried this method on a large repair such as yours.

What plastic is it?


Fibreglass will need fibreglass repair but if it's the stuff modern bikes/cars are made from it may respond well to plastic welding - done with a large, flat soldering iron and some cable ties as filler.


My Son recently hit a deer in his car which smashed up the front end and whilst I did get a new front for it, the temporary repair that I did by welding held up really well and the only reason I got a new front was that it (aftermarket) was cheaper than getting the repaired front professionally resprayed.
