V7 Crashbars Compatibility

On a V7 850..
Could some kind person measure the distances between the lower frame attachment bolts, plus the distances to the the lower front engine mounting bolt?
(Bolt head centres.) Hopefully, this is a clear enough description. The three measurements form a triangle, that is used as mounting points by a couple of crashbar designs.
The pic below should help.
I'll compare these to my V7 III and have some wishful thinking.

Thank dog you attached the pic. Maybe it’s the ADHD visual artist in me, but I couldn’t understand the description.

I’m curious of the results, too. I liked those AliExpress engine guards that you shared in the previous post, although if they would indeed fit (I’ll be surprised if the bolt distances AREN’T the same), I’d be inclined to screw a rubber bumper to the top of the bar so as to have more of a 3-point contact for force spread—if the bike were to fall on the guard, I imagine something would give—the frame? The mount portion of the guards? But a bumper on the bar, much like those on the Stucchi guards, would allow for better spread of mass and force. Anyway.

Got not very accurate pics from the seller.. with a little bit of virtual realignment of the Chinese/English steel tape..

The two frame holes are elongated, giving some leeway, so...

I put a pair of those on my V7lll. I thought at that price I was concerned about the quality and strength. I figured with my new bike I would go with them until I could get something better. Also with dealer fees I didn't have much free cash at the time. I was pleasantly surprised with the bars and have them on to this day with no intention of replacing them.

Well, they arrived.
It's too cold in the garage to fit just now, perhaps better near the weekend. They look as if they will fit really well.  :grin:
They were well packed and arrived with near flawless surface finish, if nothing else. The additional bumpers will fit snugly and should have sufficient clearance to the cylinder heads.
I'm glad that I got a centre stand fitted, as presumably I'll need to support the engine with a jack, in order to remove the lower frame bolts and the through-engine bolt. A main disadvantage for those with only a prop/side stand. The only issue that I envisage just now, is to find a socket with thin enough walls to fit onto the through-engine nut, which is recessed on the left-hand guard. I have long reach sockets (3/8" IIRC) so may get lucky.
Any mini spotlights that I fit will clamp on at a strange angle, I guess.

That’s why God invented the scissor jack and milk crates (or a small 2x4). Many things can still be done without a center stand.

Looking forward to seeing your report back on how they feel when installed. Certainly look nice. Too bad they don’t appear like they’d fit on a V7 with scrambler pipes, but I suppose one can’t expect the world when you begin adding custom bits.

I wasn't too happy with the supplied Allen bolts, so ordered some that are 10mm longer. Otherwise, it has been a very straightforward fit and the metal appears to be substantial. There's more clearance to the cylinder heads than I anticipated and certainly little/no issue with accessing the oil dipstick on the LHS.
Durability may be an issue, if anything like the ones I fitted to the Breva - the coating chips too easily and will need touched up with black paint in places, at the welds especially. Back to these crashbars: they've started off well and arrived with no dings/dents or scratches.
The additionally purchased 'bumpers' are kinda cheapy in fit & finish, which is hardly surprising 'cos they are cheap! There's loads of clearance (too much?) so there shouldn't be an issue with them melting. A long spell in a particularly snagged up traffic jam in summertime Phoenix/Dallas/Madrid/Milan may prove to be their downfall, though (un)fortunately I'll never get to experience that. :wink:
