I mean it's a dresser, a category that runs into the 900# range so it's all relative no?

This one (and I can't take it seriously because of the price but objectively) is lighter then my last Police RK and ~53# lighter than the standard Road Glide.

But again, I mean, the price

Still it's got a lot of nice components.

But the price

Yeah, that’s a very safe ‘collector’s count’. If it were 1,000, they might be risking it, but at around only 150 or so, you could make the internals out of cheap pine and electrical tape, and they’ll get bought up.

“A new HD cost $100K+…”  “Insanity…”  “Audacity…”  “Nothing but hype and people with too much money..”

Before this news broke, HD marketing goes to the meeting & says “we believe that if a very limited edition model is offered at an unheard-of price, it will create buzz and bring more attention to the brand to sell more motorcycles.  The idea of a $100k pick-up truck and American performance cars like a Corvette or Shelby Mustang has already been normalized in the market.  HD should take the same posture to normalize the idea of a $100k motorcycle. This will make a $50k-$60k HD, just like similarly priced mid-range cars and trucks, seem affordable by comparison.”

SSDD, but it still works.  Carry on…

I bought a special edition Navale, not because it is a special edition but because I liked the looks and it has features the standard doesn't have but not all the electronics stuff the S has. It was priced right between the two. It hasn't gone over big which is fine with me so I won't see another on every corner. A friend bought a limited edition CVO Harley a few years ago. I saw two others within the first week. I doubt these new special edition Harleys will see many miles on the road, some probably none.

Read the financials.  Ticker sign HOG.  They may not be an ongoing publicly traded concern much longer.  Selling 75% less MC's than 10 years ago.  Terrible investment comparitively.  I did a walk thru last weekend at dealership and was less than impressed with the  "Less is more" and no more passenger seats, etc included. No do it yourself installs without losing warranty and still the same old BS that led me away to a Victory Cross Country Tour after 14 HD's and commuting 100 miles daily in SoCal during those Halcyon days from the 1970's to early 2000's.  Walked away after refusing to sit down with a  "Chrome Consultant" after making a deal on a Roadglide for MSRP and refusing to allocate another $2500 in add on's at HD Sacramento.  Sold them outright my 1997 FLHTCUI with Remanufactured engine - took my $$$ before the market collapsed and ventured into Dual Sport riding!! Never looked back..  One day I will happen onto a barn find Carbed FLHT. That is prolly my next and last Harley.  *unless a sweet EV11 comes my way..

They will sell all these bike. Only need to sell 130 to make $14,000,000 on what kind of  $ investment. I'd bet even with all the hoopla they do not have more that at most $500,000 invested in the 1st bike. After that everything is gravy.
Oh I do not think this is a "bagger". Really baggers sit just off the ground and look completely different for a reason.
My favorite quote in the whole video is this Harley has the most ground clearance of any Harley ever. Really?  more than Erik Buell's bikes?

It is a terrible investment and always has been. H.O.G. has lost 2/3 of their market value in the since 4/2014.

Uh, not for nothing but it's an FLH, if there was ever a line that defined the term bagger, this is it.

And I don't define the term with whether or not it is slammed... Hell, I only ever owned ones (and would only ever own ones) with at least some measure of suspension.

Fwiw they've had both slammed and normal models side by side for decades now.

As for the video, I didn't bother to watch it as I'm not that interested but I'm going to guess The intent was any Harley bagger or FLH or even big twin and not literally ANY HARLEY EVER, since a quick glance at the Pan American shows it has more ground clearance and more potential lean angle (7.1" and 42° L/R) vs this one's 6.3" and 36°/37° L/R.

I feel like the XRX had similar lean angles but maybe not as much total GC? I dunno, not at my desktop with all the data.

Still not for me, but it's sorta cool they're making it.

Oh @SemperVee you're describing something pretty different from my local dealers, though they do TRY to maximize profit.

Doesn't the FLH designation go back to the 50's. I believe my first MC, a 1962 dressed Duo Glide had FLH in its designation.

Sure it does. That's way back in the family tree but certainly related. Though the entire chassis has evolved over the many years and multiple different powertrains. Each generation becoming something somewhat different in the details.

"FLH" dates to 1955.  Going back to the beginning:

"F" 1941 overhead valve 1200cc "knuckle head"

"FL" 1941 high compression overhead valve 1200cc "knuckle head'.

In 1948 they became "pan heads".

"FLH" 1955 higher compression, higher lift cams, porting/polishing, etc.

Audace. I had one and loved it. It got too awkward for me to ride in my advanced years ago I traded it. Heavy, kind of a raked out front end and a real long wheelbase. It was terrific on the highways but at parking lot speeds a real handful.
