Free 2020 V85TT?

Recieved a pre-impoundment notice from the city of Trinidad, CO police department informing me that my 2020 V85TT is parked on the curb of the 500 block of east 1st street without a current license plate properly affixed and will be subject to impounding if not moved by April 15th.
Problem is that my 2020 V85TT is currently tucked away in my garage, with license plate, far from the city of Trinidad Colorado.
So, anyone want to go check out what might be a stolen 2020 V85TT with a partially obscured VIN and claim it?

Tried calling them already. The gal that answered the phone couldn't be bothered to put me in touch with the pertinent person responsible for clearing this up and instead sent my call over to the entire directory. I figured I would try again Monday morning when there n at be more people in the office other than the lone gal manning the phone for dispatch

Agree, sounds like a scam.  BUT, why scam the guy that can just look in his garage and see his bike?  Probably a clerical error on the VIN.  Same year, even one number off can be the difference.  I once got a notice for an unpaid parking ticket for my wife’s car from a far away town in NJ.   Some moron of a meter maid confused an “M” with a “W” on the plate (really)!  All other numbers and letters were same.

Spoke with the code compliance officer this morning and pointed the disparity in their claim that my bike was parked on the curb of their city without proper registration displayed. She called me back a bit later to let me know the bike in question has been removed and is no longer their concern.

So, did any of you take me up on the offer posed in the beginning of this thread?
