California Riders: Tank Bag?
« on: April 21, 2025, 02:30:51 PM »
Looking for a tank bag that works well with the '90's-2000's style California sloped/teardrop tank, gas cap etc. Would prefer a bag with a top map pocket.
Suggestions anyone?

This one looks like it has potential: https://harpermoto.com/products/tank-bag-nevada-973217100003

I have this one on my '96 Cali and my '04 Cali EV, works great.  I think magnetic is more convenient than straps.

The absolute best was a product from BAGSTER in France.  They made tank covers to fit every bike tank style.  They installed quick release points in the same place on every cover.  If  you had five different bikes you only needed one tank bag which could quickly swap from one bike to another.  Alas, I don't think they have a US importer any longer.  You might find one used on EBAY.  I have two but not interested in parting out.

Here is a picture of Regina's EV with the tank cover installed, but no tank bag.

Here is a picture of my EV with cover and bag both in place.

Agree with Patrick, Bagster is the absolute best. You can find the bags on eBay easy enough. But the tank cover it attaches to is going to be a tough find. Eventually one my pop up on eBay.

I have a small dog Bagster tank bag. Very well made unfortunately my 3.5 lb Yorkie passed so we never got to use it. I had a couple of Fly Racing tank bags that I liked. Not top of the line quality but not bad. They thought of a lot of things when they designed them, lots of pockets and extra features. The interiors are red so it is easy to find things instead of a black cubby hole. I have a SW Moto on my Mandello which attaches with a tank ring which is nice, not much in the way of extra pockets etc. I don't know if they make one that would be suitable for your bike.

I've had a Bagster ever since Zephyr 1100 days; they really are the best. Period.
(Looks are a Marmite thing - a bit like the typical big ass ugly windscreens that is commonplace Stateside.)

P.S. I currently have a Monster 600/750/900 yellow one for sale - bike sold.
