Though it's electric. A throwback to the Model T if you ask me. The business model makes a lot of sense to me. Should sell like hot cakes for Gen Z and younger. I'd be down for one .

Society doesn't think they need all the BS, the auto manufacturers do and they try to convince us of the need.
This is an interesting concept. Wish they offered a v6 LOL.
Toyota makes the IMV 0 that is basically a gas powered version of the slate. But they don't offer it in the US. From what I understand it won't pass the NTSB crash standards.

It sucks they got rid of the bench seat single cabs in the late 90's.  Wish it had a 6ft bed but I like.  For a secondary vehicle around the house this would be great.

I kinda like it. If you're looking to make inexpensive and durable vehicles without a lot of the expensive traps of current products, this makes a bunch of sense. Durable plastic panels (if done like Saturn) means the a strong, typically roll cage-like body and inexpensive bodywork that's easier and cheaper to fix/replace. Lack of colors and options keeps costs down. Hell it sounds like they even have plans to encourage DIY service and even potentially warranty repairs.

I'm not looking for an EV anytime soon, but this one ticks a lot of buttons for practicality and I kinda like their approach for a budget conscious product.

Put a gas engine in it, auto or manual trans, drop the price to $15k and tell me where to send my money.

Yeah I like the DIY aspect.  Other companies really turn me away from purposely designing a system where they get to charge a 2 hours labor rate to change a lightbulb.  Plus no added frills or costs like some other companies, meaning if you want power windows that it is not an add on purchase.

And hopefully after several years and iterations one can choose the battery they want Lithium/ Sodium/ Solid State.  Keeps the hand wringing down from the older generation .

Checks all the boxes for me!  Like Bill Hagan, I'm using a high mileage mid-90's basic Toyota Tacoma.  Solid as a rock.
Why are all the pictures in shadow??  Hard to see details and there aren't many details to see.
How strong is the tailgate?  Roll a moto up into the back with the tailgate down?  My Tacoma has routinely hauled a full-sized Guzzi in the back.

Bought a used 91 Toyota Pickup (before Tacoma) drove it out to CO came back to NH.  Sold to my Dad and hes still driving it around.  350K or so on clock.  If frame does not rust out before then I might have to confiscate it back from him and take it to 500k.

I think Ford should feel flattered, looks like a cross between a Bronco and a Flex. So much for new design.  It may hit the mark for the newest generation of drivers. Hope it does well.

I hope they do well.  The coming recession will probably make for a hard start for the company.

Nope, needs a straight 6 or a v8, a manual transmission, and the option for 4WD - manual
hubs and transfer case are fine.

Otherwise buy a Honda Ridgeline......whic h ain't a bad vehicle, it just isn't a real truck.

A Recession will drive business their way….at a $20K entry fee I think they’ll do just fine… nothing else on the planet for EV’s is even close to this.

I'd rather see a truck that small and basic but with a 4 cyl hybrid.  Something like a Civic hybrid or Prius drivetrain.  I know the EPA made small trucks a challenge and going hybrid can fix that.

Chrysler sells a small pickup south of the border which is a lot like the old Dodge Rampage. There has been a lot of yelling about bringing it into the US. Unfortunately it doesn't meet US regulations and would take too many $'s even if it is possible to meet the standards. I would like to have a small cheap truck to run around town when I can't ride and don't want to fire up the diesel dually. My neighbor has an old D50, I keep waiting for him to slap a for sale sign on it.

I like the idea of no touchscreen.  Those damn things are dangerous.  Not intuitive and one has to take eyes off the road to even change a radio channel or-- to be more modern--stop a podcast.

I have often found it very interesting that some friends I have who claim to seek simplicity don't seem to be aware that hybrids they desire are more complicated than either internal combustion engine vehicles or electric vehicles.  They are not stupid people, they simply lack knowledge of both manufacturing and technology.

Different tools for different jobs.

I think of the handsaws, battery powered saws, 120 vac saws, and the gas powered chainsaws i own as analogous.

Buying a 30 year old vehicle and spending a few thousand $ to make it reliable seems like a viable option, with obvious downsides.

At least it doesn't look like it was slapped together, using plywood and metal sheets, under a tree in the backyard.

It might very well be a great vehicle for 100 mile or less days, which for me, and likely 85% of US drivers is what we do 95% of the year.  Supposed to do around 150 miles, likely 110-125 I would think in the real world.
