07 Norge ECU plug removal
« on: May 28, 2025, 04:46:13 PM »
Before I break something, does anyone know the correct procedure for removing the ECU plug? It looks like there is a clip that rotates and I can't figure out whether to push or pull and whether it rotates toward the camera or away.

It can only go one way, there's a stop that prevents it from going the wrong way.

Push down on the little tab that locks the clip.

Rotate the clip towards the other plug.

The plug will push out of the ECU as you rotate the clip.

Thanks for the photo's, the location of the ECU makes it extremely difficult to see how the connection works. I just want to remove the connection and spray it down with Deoxit for preventative maintenance.

I wouldn't recommend that, unless you first wrap the ribbed rubber sealant around the connector, as DeOxit causes that rubber gasket to swell, and you won't be able to replace the plug w/o ruining the gasket.  Had the same issue on my Griso, learned the lesson for my Norge.

Thanks.

I decided that unless I'm willing to take a lot of parts off of the bike, I'm just going to leave it as is because even after releasing the clip I can't get it out of the ECU.

After rotating the clip over to the other side of where it is now by pushing longitudinally, then the plug just pulls out at a 90 degree angle to the ECU.   The ribbed rubber seal may be keeping it stuck so you can wiggle it gently as long as you don't rip the seal.  They go in and out easily and are hard to mess up if treated gently.
