Newbie wants a Moto

Been off bikes for a really long time but now wanting to get back in the game on an "adult" bike. Found this bike for sale a couple hour drive from me but wanted to know what Guzzi aficionados think. Is this a fair price?

Sorry but just gotta have a wee dig. Could the use of HH (race grade) pads caused the need for a replacement rotor? Gets down from my soap box, with GG pads all round.

Add the owner of a V7III, I'd buy the V7 Sport unless money is an issue.

Also I don't personally like buying things other people have futzed with, but that's a me thing.

If I had to guess this bike is too expensive between the upgraded suspension and the custom work to coat the exhaust and wheels.

Of course if this speaks to you the V7III is a decent enough bike. So really it depends all on you.

He wants a bike now. To the best of my knowledge, there are none in the US.
The 19 should be a good bike, but honestly, if over $5000 you're paying for extras, and his suspension changes might not be fot your weight. Ask what he made the weight settings.
Other than that, a few had failed O2 sensors. A quick fix with a new map, $100. A few had faulty stators, again a simple fix.

You're both objectively and subjectively wrong.

Objectively, Piaggio had announced a pre-tarrif price of ~$10.5k.

And more importantly since I hate the V85, the V7 Sport will be subjectively better for me in every way!

We still need to know the price before we can make intelligent responses. I have a 2019 V7, it has been trouble free but it is low mileage, it is used mostly around town on errands. I got it as a backup for the 1400 I had in the event the 1400 was incapacitated for an extended period, I hasn't been needed for the Audace, T120 nor my Mandello.

I've been using EBC HH pads for nearly 30 years.  Sure, they are more aggressive than lesser pads, but I've yet to replace a brake rotor due to wear.  Modern brake rotors last a long time.

Brake rotors will eventually wear out, no matter the pads.  Rotors are a wear item, but they last tens of thousands of miles.  Highest mile bike from my past was sold with 42,000 miles.  Brake rotors were fine, even with aggressive, two up, and trailering miles.

I'm on a 2018 V7(3), currently at 18K miles, and they have been trouble free (knock on wood).  The suspension changes listed would not worry me. even if not for your weight, it's bound to be better than stock. I don't know much about the Leo Vance cans, are they Cat equipped ?  I pulled the stockers off of mine, man they weighted a ton, currently running EMGO cans, a bit loud but a huge weight savings. The only thing that bothers me is the new rotors, leads me to think the previous owner pushed this bike hard...

If the linked picture is to the bike described, there are some red flags.  The shocks shown are Hagons, not Shock Factory - big difference.  Also, they claim to have installed Matris cartridges in the forks, but zooming in on the fork caps I don't see any evidence of that - there should be preload adjusters visible.

Money is not a barrier to getting a new V7 Sport.

I just thought it would be a good idea to make sure I was going make good use of motorbike after all these years. Thought that if I bought something less expensive and then realized I wasn't going to ride it that much, I would take a smaller hit if I re-sold it.

The postings I see for bikes for sale by private party often boast they have no add-on dealer junk fees either. Not sure if that is a real thing.

Where are you located. If you're anywhere near South Jersey you're welcome to come ride my bikes and talk about what you want. Maybe it would help. I've got a V7III in the fleet.

If you're elsewhere, maybe it would be worth seeing if the Guzzi demo fleet will be in the area.

If money is no issue buy a new 850,much smoother and more power than the 750s plus a warranty.

Also in California. I wouldn't be afraid of that bike. Buying from a private owner would also save a boat load of money at least here in Cali and my local dealer's fees.

If new ones are over 10K and the one the OP is looking at is 5K I would think thats a good deal. Know that the suspender crowd here only approves of bikes that are totally stock. Any mods like changing mirrors automatically reduces its value by 90%.

Where is your closest Guzzi dealer, or at least some kind of indy shop that will work on a Guzzi?  Need to factor that into your purchasing decision.  Luckily for me, I have a dealer that's about an hour and a half away, bought a '23 V7 Stone Special Edition and a '24 V100 Mandello Navale from them.  If it were me, if you could afford to buy a new one, I'd go that route.  That way, you could "personalize" it to your liking, and have some comfort in knowing that no one has tinkered with it except you.  I checked my dealer's inventory, and they have this V7 Stone listed:

Xtreme in Accident MD has 2024 Stones listed at $7190.

That would seem to be the price to beat on new leftover 850's, at least on the East Coast
