Frame bolt when installing crash bar

The crash bar that came with my 99' Bassa appears to use this big allen bolt that connects the frame sections together for the lower mount. Will the frame separate if I remove the bolt while the bike is on its centerstand? What's the safe way to remove and reinstall it? Jack up the bike from under the engine?

As long as the main frame to engine bolt is tight below it there is no worries taking it out to install your crashbar

I agree with what Dave wrote. But I would support the engine with a jack. The engine will not fall out when you remove the bolts, but the frame could shift just a tad to give issues getting the bolt back in.

You can always try it without the jack, and if aligning for the bolt is an issue, jack it up a touch.

Also depending on what length bolt and what crash bar mount, you may need a longer bolt??? Try it and see.
