UPdate Broke plastic quick connect
« on: August 07, 2025, 06:20:57 PM »

when I pulled the tank off, I noticed some fuel leaking at the elbos, sure enough it is cracked.
I ordered a new one from MG cycle,  went out today to replace it and the little set screw is frozen tight.
I tried liquid wrench,  rocked he hex wrench by hand to see if it would break loose.  No joy

I think its time I took it to a professinal to remove the set screw.

I don't think that set screw does anything except plug that hole. I had to drill the plastic connector out. That star washer on your new one is the only thing holding it in. Drill carefully, maybe cut the elbow off after the turn, close to the metal, so you can see what you're doing.
Good luck!

This is what I did when I had a broken elbow. I used progressively larger drills, drilling very carefully to keep the bit straight.

Elbow changed, I got it from MG cycle.  its white
PIA to get out

tackling the startus interruptus now,  changed out the wire for a 16ga from solenoid to relay.  seems to be a louder thunk, but still no crank.
It will crank with a jumper pack or charger on  the battery I was getting at least one loud thunk, then it would crank with extra power.

battery only drops about a ½ volt when I press the starter, so it doesn't seem to be the battery, it may be weak but it cranks fine if run a wire from battery to solenoid.  I am getting the same voltage at solenoid as I have at the battery.

I think next I will redo the hot wire from the battery to the relay, I have the MPH bypass, but its kinda old, maybe the connectors need to be refreshed.
I will clean and refresh the battery connections again, and the ground connections.

I pulled the starter button apart and cleaned it up.
