V9 Bobber Issue
« on: August 09, 2025, 12:50:50 AM »
I couldn’t find the search function on this site, so rehashing.

I all of a sudden couldn’t start the bike. Posted about it for help, but anyway it turned out that my key barrel was the problem. So, after a month’s wait for the part, my trusted LBS installed it but I needed to insert my PIN code for every start as the ECU needed recoding for the new keys. It turns out that the code was the last five numbers of the VIN, which is apparently quite common, and so that info might be helpful to those that don’t already know that. I did end up getting it sorted at my local Guzzi dealer, so all good now.

Happy to be able to blast around on this bike again. Very torquey, to the point that I really don’t miss the horsepower.

Also, I had a tachometer installed. One could argue the bike doesn’t really need one, but I wanted one. So I had a Daytona tach installed.

That white bar on the tach is a reflection of a neon light in my garage.

A few years ago I bought kind of a used bike, long story. It came with only one key. When I realized I needed a code to rectify the key situation now what. Turns out the code was also the last digits of the VIN. Easy for me to remember as it was the same as the last digits of my SSN. It gets even more strange, the last digits of my Mandello are the same. What are the odds?

The contrasting color lighting doesn’t bother you?

Oh, and for posterity—the search field is up in the top right:

And since we're showing him secrets, he could also go into his own profile, look up his own posts, and find the thread as the third post listed.

I re read it last night when I saw this one.

AND it was the 1st reply. Glad you got it sorted, some times I'm correct.         I don't remember answering some of the stuff on here, age is no fun.

No, I don’t mind the contrasting colours, for some reason. Maybe I’m less bothered about making things “just so” as I age? I’m letting go of cosmetic perfection, but still want my bike to work perfectly. I just wanna ride! 😎

Thanks. I’m amazed I couldn’t see that search bar!
