Billy Joel closing his motorcycle collection
« on: August 15, 2025, 06:21:13 AM »
I was really disappointed to miss a visit there organized by Tom Halchuk and the Massahoozits guzzi clan

Sad to see this…

Yes, it is sad. Have been out there a few times and there was always a couple interesting projects going on. Billy has a nice collection that should do well at auction especially given the 'star' owner premium.

As a Native Long Islander, this makes me sad. FOr the loss to the community, but also for Billy Joel's health.

I attended SUNY Farmingdale in 77-78.

Billy Joel was just starting to become a superstar.
I heard songs from his then current smash album (The Stranger, IIRC) at least 10 times a day.
Locals were thrilled to see a homie make the big time.

Interesting, I was friends with Liberty Devito when I lived in Northport in the late 90's. We met at the Golds Gym. I used to See Billy all around, usually at the Hardware Store out in Cutchogue. I was in JR High in 77 (8th grade), and our Music Teacher was friends with someone in the band. I'll never forget the day he played "The Stranger" to our Class. Was the first Joel song I've every heard, and have been a fan ever since.

You might enjoy Jim Croce's Greatest Hits album and also Art Garfunkel's album Breakaway.

Breakaway is a great song to play in your head while riding.  Same with Croce's Walking back to Georgia, or his song New York's not my home (especially if you spent time on Long Island.
