When you put those pads back in, don’t forget to bleed the brakes. I can send you some of my “recycled” brake fluid. And don’t worry, it’s already been pre-boiled.

Are you kidding, throw away good brake fluid and/or pay for more? All the OP has to do is empty the brake fluid into his camp coffee pot (reserve the old grounds for the next camping trip) and when burning his trash along the curb  (saves from paying curb side pickup) just heat the brake fluid until the temp reaches around 220 degrees to boil off any water. Then strain through an old pair of underwear that is not good enough to be upcycled into a wash cloth and its ready to be put back into brake system. If you want to reverse bleed the brakes it is suggested you root through the sharps box at the local clinic to find a suitable syringe.

Obviously a statement made by someone who has never driven a pre 2003 Ural.

My R60/2 with round drums and 232AF brake compound did have anti-lock brakes, but stopped uneventfully.
Ural with sloppy linkage, bad mechanical advantage and steel, out of round drums being grabbed by something with the consistency of slate just sort of slowed down. The brake was good for turning on the tail light so following traffic knew you wanted to stop.

Nope, never driven a Ural and really have no desire to do so. I wouldn't mind having another /2 for leisurely Sunday afternoon rides.
