New Suzuki Looks Interesting
« on: September 05, 2025, 03:12:51 AM »
It's been a while since any Japanese branded motorcycle has caught my attention.

2026 Suzuki GSX-8T and GSX-8TT first look - RevZilla https://share.google/vqkJz3qJgByF2LWn6

Of course still isn't shaft driven but this looks like a great alternative.

Much nicer looking than most modern "insect" bikes.

650-800cc seems to be an evolutionary sweet spot for street bikes.  Plenty of power for any use, yet still light and quick handling.

I had three first generation SV650's.  Excellent machines.  The first time I saw a photo of one in 1999, I told my wife "There is a modern day Norton Commando!"  IMO, still the best looking frame of any mass produced motorcycle.

Back in the late 70's early 80's, shaft drive was a big deal.  I loved my two Yamaha XS750, XS750SE, Suzuki GS1000G.  But with modern drive chains and belts, it just isn't the same level of improvement.

Hopefully the Japanese will continue to pursue the 70's/80's styling motifs.

IMO the rear of the bikes are the biggest fail. It would look more like what they describe if the seat was flat and longer which would not only be more comfortable but do away with some of the 12" of open space above the rear tire.

From the front looking at that enormous radiator I feel they are as butt ugly as anything ever made.

I think they look fine, but I'm a sucker for standards.  I also like the looks of the Honda CB1000F, but I have a personal nostalgia for that model (hint- it involves a redhead).

I'm out at parallel twin and not terribly fond of the rest of the bike either, but I never really liked standards to begin with.

It looks interesting. Suzuki has always been a bit "different" in the styling dept. I think of the "B-King", and the M -109 R.

Honda did a much better job.  Reminds me of the mid-80's 1100F:

800 twins are a nice size, and generally underrated . My 2015 BMW F800r has proved that to me.. For day to day riding, I prefer it over
the Triumph triples I had..Not low rent triples either.. One reason is the solid Rotax engine, and the ability to use software like
Motoscan for service issues.

In this point and condenser crowd the mention of plugging a bike into a computer is making heads pop off shoulders all over the place.

I am firmly a member of the "points and condenser crowd", but no head popping off shoulders here. Even an "old dog" can "learn new tricks". Here the "1200 Ambassador" is plugged into my laptop so that I can check a few things prior to it's first start.

I think there are less of the "points and condenser crowd" here now than there are owners that are using software diagnostic tools.

The Motoscan is much easier to setup than Guzzidiag. It's still nice to have the option to do so.. If you do want to go to the dealer to turn out a service light, then the option is to figure out the software, or buy a pretty old bike..

Now on to the twins, I think all of them have merits. My last three have been 360 degree ones.. There was such a
difference in design and feel to all of them.(W-800/GS310/F800R)That's not even counting all the newer 270 crank models.

I owned 4 Suzukis back in the 70’s. To say this new model has any resemblance to the T 500 Titan is ridiculous. Keep dreaming Suzuki! I don’t know what they’re trying to prove by having such a large gap between the rear fender and the rear wheel. That looks ridiculous too.

FWIW, Suzuki is having a demo weekend at TWO next week the same weekend as the Ga. Guzzi rally.
