LeMans fairing attachment photos
« on: October 10, 2025, 04:27:46 PM »
Does anyone have any photos of how a LM I-style fairing attaches to the bike?

I'm in the process of adapting a LeMans-type fairing to a 1000SP (not a clone, I just like the fairing).

I have the LM I fairing brackets but I'm trying to understand to understand how everything is mounted so that I can figure out how to set up and what/if there are things I need to adjust or fabricate.

Thanks so much. I think I'm pretty clear on the mounting, except for one thing:

This tab:

How much space exists between this tab and the fairing itself? Is there some kind of spacer?

I'm confused because it seems like -- if you were to tighten the screws (the ones on the sides of the headlight on the front of the fairing) to the point where the bracket was touching the fiberglass, the headlight would be sticking waaay out past the front of the fairing.

The headlight bucket setup I have is an H4 version and looks pretty similar to pics I've seen of the Euro unit, so I'm assuming that's what I have.

Just trying to understand the relationship of the brackets to the inside of the fairing, I can't for the life of me find a pic of how they are mounted. (my fairing is unpainted and lacks holes so I'm trying to figure out where to drill 'em, also).

The only thing that goes between the bracket and fairing body is a rubber washer.

Got it. That bit of space plus sliding the headlight forward on the bracket forks will help bring the light more flush with the fairing.

I'm trying to figure out how best to line up and drill the holes (my fairing doesn't have them). I have brand new stock brackets, are you supposed to bend the little forks to match the angle of the fairing? Bit of an odd fit matching flat bracket to a curved fairing piece.

No, you shouldn’t have to bend those tabs. I would mount the brackets to the headlight bolts then slide the fairing over the headlight with the top of the brackets against the flange of the top part of the fairing and somehow mark those two holes or maybe use some small clamps to keep them temporarily anchored to the fairing. I assume you have the bottom bracket, I’d mount that and somehow mark that hole and drill a hole in the fairing and with those three anchors, and some adjustment I would then mark and drill the holes for the tabs. Oh, you have wider fork placement on that bike than the LeMans so you will need to open those cut outs on the fairing in order for it to be mounted. I’d purchase some rubber washers like the ones for the original LeMans which I’ve found at Home though they aren’t exactly the same. I’m sure that Maryland Metric has some of those washers too.

This will probably be a nail biter in terms of getting the correct locations but if it isn’t painted they can always be filled if there is a problem.
