I use an iPhone, solely, to conduct business on our WGC forum. The adds that are now being used literally covers half of my screen and I am constantly having to hit the small delete icon before I can use the screen. I have also noticed that some of the adds are refusing to delete until hit several times and I believe this is by design of the add co.
First let me thank every member who stepped up and offered a donation, thank you for your financial backing!
Now I am asking the members who use and enjoy the forum and don’t contribute, to step up and help out.
If anyone can’t afford a small donation that’s ok, I wouldn’t expect anyone to give which would cause a hardship for you and your family. Everyone else who uses and enjoys the forum, please step up and help the rest of us get the forum to the point where Luap can do away with the adds.
Thanks again to everyone who participates on our beloved WGC forum.

Where are we at with the $$$?

It's pathetic that so few people support a forum community and resource that they use regularly.

If you click the donate button you'll see how easy it is even if you wanted to do $2 a month as an auto draft through PayPal or whatever you want, That's nothing.

You don't have to donate a large sum, But if you use this resource you should give something. Quit acting like the 30-year-old living in his parents basement and mooching. Step up contribute be a man (or woman)😜

Thanks BD for the assertive but very true and accurate assessment.
The answer to your question. The last time I ask Luap the same question he advised that we would meet the amount needed to cover the years required funding.
That being acknowledged, a forum like this one with a global membership of several thousand members should not have to struggle at the end of every year to meet the minimum financial requirements to keep the forum going.
Luap has never hounded or even ask members to give money to help support the forum. In times past he, luap, has dug into his pocket to meet the financial need to keep the forum on line.
The elephant in the room is that only a small percentage of the actual active users contribute yearly.
Like Luap acknowledged in an earlier post if only half of the members gave only a few dollars a year we could eliminate adds and greatly upgrade the services that forums can offer.
This is not a moment of “beating a dead horse” it’s simply a call out for EVERYONE who uses and enjoys WGC to step up and help support this great asset for anyone who owns a MG or any other motorcycle as far as that goes. A member can get assistance with
most any need here, due to the extensive amount of knowledgeable that the members here have.
Let’s be clear no one who can’t afford to offer a donation is expected to give. This only applies to regular members who participate on a regular basis and can afford to offer a donation.
I would like to thank every member of the WGC forum for your support and participation on the forum. You are appreciated whether you give a donation or not.

Like I regularly say, everything you do is an opportunity to demonstrate character because everything you do (and, by default, don’t do) does exactly that.

We never minded sharing a beer with anyone that came to the shop.   But when they hung around and didn’t want to put in when we were headed to the beer store, it didn’t go unnoticed.  It was always more about the precedent than the amount.

Hello all,
We will for sure make our yearly goal for the basic hosting costs and needs. We have 155 donors this year so far (down from 214 last year) and many have donated multiple times throughout the year and I sure appreciate you all for helping keep us afloat for another year. It really does take a village. I will never chastise anyone who is unable to donate. Your contributions come in other ways and it's all appreciated.

I've been rightfully asked in the past what any extra funds are used for, once we achieve our basic goal. I figured this would be a great opportunity to put that information in this post for those unaware. I'm a firm believer in transparency. Any extra donations will go into the fund that takes care of the things listed below.

* Professional American-Based 3rd party support, and consultation. (I had to use this resource this year and that put us back a bit)
* Improved technical support memberships for when there are issues beyond my control. (This is a recurring yearly cost of around $100)
* Application research and development. (N/A for 2025)
* Domain Administration and Services, so that this domain will be around for a very long time to come. (renewed this year as well)
* Maintenance, security purchases and upgrades to keep the site free of malware, viruses, etc. (many upgrades took place this past February)
* Software purchases to improve functionality and ease of use.   (Luckily we haven't had to do any of this for a couple years)
* Software upgrades to better serve both you and I. (N/A for 2025)
* Crash recoveries made seamless due to improved backup resources. (used 2 times in 2025)
* Administrative Labor (If we end up $20 in the positive, I treat myself to a burger and fries )

Thanks again,
Luap

I find it interesting that this post as been viewed 13000 times but probably not repeatedly by the 200 of us that actually donate. And yet not much happens. Sigh.

Thanks Guys for all the responses and support, financially and morally.
I would like to see enough support to at least be able to fund the forum without the adds and compensate Luap a little for his time and effort he puts into this forum for all of our benefit and enjoyment.
Maybe things will improve next year and we won’t need to do all the hoopla again.

Thanks again

Maybe a notice should be posted at least twice annually, public radio (pledge week ) asks and receives 2 x a year, seems like more. Maybe a post in February/ March when folks are getting their bikes ready, and again in October/November storage maintenance time might be effective. Just a thought.

I agree there definitely should be a membership drive early in the year to get things started, maybe save some stress at the end of the year

I suspect the ratio of donors to forum members here at WG is not too far off from average of internet forums.   That being said, it is still rather pathetic.   If you actively monitor WG you ought to kick in, at least once in a while.

That’s probably correct, BC, on both counts.
Thanks for the input 👍
