Just wondering about Moto Guzzi's websites/marketing
« on: October 17, 2025, 03:12:47 PM »
Since I just picked up a 2021 V9 Bobber in addition to my '23 V7 Special, I had occasion to look up info about both these bikes on the web.

So on www.motoguzzi.com they list their model families as V100, Stelvio, V85tt, and V7 -- no mention of the V9 family.  So I thought that the V9 Bobber was discontinued like it's sister the V9 Roamer. RIP
However on the Moto Guzzi store USA and Canada the advertise the the V100, Stelvio, V85tt, V7 AND V9 Bobber + V9 Bobber Special Edition.

Just out of curiosity I emailed Piaggio but haven't heard back.

Anyone know why this is?   Does the Bobber live on?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Piaggio and Guzzi play fast and loose with model years. And their marketing material can get stale, as they keep it live up support sales of new old stock till it dwindles.

I thought people here had previously confirmed death of the V9, but I forget the particulars. Still the current presentation of the website means little.

What the heck is the MOTO GUZZI STORE website, and why is it different from MOTOGUZZI.COM?

There are 2024 V9 Bobber and Bobber SE, my local dealer has a 2024 for sale on the showroom floor now.

I came across this site when I was looking for info on the Bobber when my son was considering purchasing one.

Oh, I saw it. Just wondering why Guzzi has it/what they use it for, and why its contents are somewhat different from the mothership site. Clearly it exists for a distinct purpose beyond the primary website…

Piaggio and Guzzi play fast and loose with model years.

I'll second that, as I have a 2022 model year (confirmed by the VIN) Centenario, yet Guzzi's 100th was 2021.

It looks like the "store" site is an e-commerce platform where you can purchase accessories. I don't find that unusual as other brands do the same thing splitting off their online stores into a sub-site or even an entirely different domain. Honda has Dreamshop for example: https://dreamshop.honda.com/ , Ducati has https://shop.ducati.com/

Simple answer:  Moto Guzzi USA does not remove models from their website until all the old inventory of a particular model is exhausted.  There are leftover new V9s still hanging around.

In his book Dave Richardson talked about being able to buy a group of discontinued leftover models at bargain basement prices. I just looked at Moto Guzzi sites both factory and US. I didn't see any V100 Navales listed. However Eurocycle's stores have a total of nine. I wonder if this was the case here. Kind of forced me to sell mine at a bargain basement price. I was glad I was able to sell it, a fly and ride.

As far as I can tell Piaggio has done this is NA for as long as I've been riding Guzzis.

They "reward" one or more of their higher performing dealer by selling them leftovers or new old stock reclaimed from shuttered dealers at prices so low it allows them to undercut any other dealer in the country.

Back in the day that was to Moto International, then later to Speakers for a year or two. A few years ago it was Xtreme Powersports in Accident MD (in their case because they were the #1 Aprilia dealer in the US at the time).

I guess if I do wind up selling or trading my Carbon Dark and only get $4-5k I can't bitch too much since I didn't pay $10k for it (I only paid $7k) for that reason.

Thanks guys for all the insights!

It's a shame that the Bobber has been discontinued, it sure is a fun bike to ride.  Though I must say for long distance motorcycle travel and moto-camping, I find the Bobber a touch cramped.  For those needs, my V7 Special works so well that even passed on a V85tt Travel!

So, for now, my garage will just shelter my V9 Bobber for shorter rides and the '23 V7 Special for my longer travels........but I do have my eye on that new V7 Sport!  I bet that would make a dandy traveling bike  :thumb:

Kev, I didn't get much for my V7lll trade in, but then again I didn't pay a lot for it as it was a left over. We don't buy Guzzis for resale valve. I haven't ridden a '25 but I would wait for a '26. A lot of new things including cruise and the exhaust system is all new as far as I can determine. The sound is great and with VVT and I don't know what else the power is substantially more although due to break in I haven't really wrung it out yet. It does seem very much like the T120 I had. As an aside I changed engine oil and filter at 500 miles, not a smidgen of anything on the drain plug.
