Two MG dealers close in Colorado
« on: November 27, 2025, 08:12:04 AM »
Just got a text from my V 85  riding buddy in Littleton, Co that Aces has apparently dropped MG from their line up in Fort Collins, moved their
Littleton location to Frederick and no longer showing them there.  Colorado Powersports in Colorado Springs has per him changed hands and
the new owners are no longer carrying MG.  This leaves Erico in Denver as the only MG dealer if in fact this is true.  Can't confirm, just passing
along what he related this morning in a text.

As of today, Aces and Sun are still listed on the Guzzi website.
So, there’s that data point.

The lack of a dealer network is giving me second thoughts on keeping my remaining Guzzi (recently sold my '23 V7 Stone Special Edition).  Like what happened with Fiat and Alfa Romeo dealerships, it wouldn't take a giant leap of faith to think Guzzi will eventually go the same way.  If I can sell my V100 Mandello Aviazione Navale for what I still owe, I'll probably do that, and get something like a Triumph Speed Twin 1200 (there's more Triumph dealers in NC, which is where I'll be retiring to next year).

A buddy of mine in Colorado said Aces and Erico were discontinuing Guzzi’s
The former stated he couldn’t get MG to provide warranty work payment (my buddy had an issue with a V7-850 and Aces was really not interested in servicing it)
The latter has 2 Guzzi’s in stock and stated he wasn’t ordering anymore

I know what you mean. I've had several issues with my new laptop with windows 11. I called the help line about three times. All no English speaking countries reading a translation. I gave up and Googled the question and had it fixed myself in 15-30 minutes each time.

Most of us were around in 2008-9.  The current and accelerating economic slowdown will really put a hurtin' on all motorcycle dealers or any place that sells adult toys and they are going to have to get pretty creative to keep the doors open. The large dealers owned by corporations and car dealers will continue as long as those entities continue to fund them when sales and service alone can no longer do so.  The problem for us is that a boutique brand like MG that never generated too much sales and service revenue is likely to get cut.  For those younger people with the desire to ride and a job, I see the Chinese and Indian cheap brands really making inroads into our market just as the Japanese did 50 years ago.
I really hope I am wrong about this and am willing to be talked out of this view with well stated arguments supported by facts.

I bought my first Moto Guzzi in 1978 so I’ve been familiar with the brand for a while. I cannot remember a time when Moto Guzzi had more than a handful of very good dealers spread around the country.

If a robust dealer network is on your motorcycle must have list, there’s really only one brand that will likely suit you. That being Harley-Davidson. Many of their dealers are also struggling mightily to stay afloat.

The motorcycle segment of the powersports industry is indeed, in very poor shape. I’m referring mostly to the USA since that’s where I live. Higher interest and lower disposable income levels typically mean the fun stuff suffers first. The boating and RV markets are also in very poor shape.

It appears that several dealers are dropping out, but the divorces are being drawn out.

Erico too?

That would leave Erico with Ducs and Triumphs?

In OKC we lost our Triumph store and the Guzzi divorce continues.

To your point, I am on the other side of the age curve but my last two purchases that are keeping my 2020 V 85 company in the garage are a 2024 Triumph 400 X and a CF Moto 450 Ibex.  They so far are impressive machines. I was motivated for lighter motorcycles, build quality and cost.  I have 6 K miles between them
without a single issue.   I have two solid bikes for $12,000 total and each with a 2 year warranty.  You are not wrong.

My V7 850 is at Aces in Fort Collins right now waiting on a replacement final drive. I was told that by the time it arrives they may have completed their move of the service department to Frederick and I would be picking up my bike from there. Will try to remember to report back if they're still carrying Moto Guzzis whenever I pick mine up. I'm sure the work they've had to do on my V7 850, which was purchased from Erico because at the time Aces couldn't get a Centenario, hasn't helped their enthusiasm for servicing MGs.

I had called Erico last month to feel out if they might be any better of a place to service the final drive, though more inconvenient for me, and I got a pretty blunt "no" which could be paraphrased as that they weren't stocking many MGs anymore at that time and if I were to drop the bike off for work it would certainly need to be left there for weeks as parts come from Italy.

A 3 year old bike needing a final drive replacement already?  What happened to it?
