Two MG dealers close in Colorado
« on: November 27, 2025, 08:12:04 AM »
Just got a text from my V 85  riding buddy in Littleton, Co that Aces has apparently dropped MG from their line up in Fort Collins, moved their
Littleton location to Frederick and no longer showing them there.  Colorado Powersports in Colorado Springs has per him changed hands and
the new owners are no longer carrying MG.  This leaves Erico in Denver as the only MG dealer if in fact this is true.  Can't confirm, just passing
along what he related this morning in a text.

As of today, Aces and Sun are still listed on the Guzzi website.
So, there’s that data point.

The lack of a dealer network is giving me second thoughts on keeping my remaining Guzzi (recently sold my '23 V7 Stone Special Edition).  Like what happened with Fiat and Alfa Romeo dealerships, it wouldn't take a giant leap of faith to think Guzzi will eventually go the same way.  If I can sell my V100 Mandello Aviazione Navale for what I still owe, I'll probably do that, and get something like a Triumph Speed Twin 1200 (there's more Triumph dealers in NC, which is where I'll be retiring to next year).

A buddy of mine in Colorado said Aces and Erico were discontinuing Guzzi’s
The former stated he couldn’t get MG to provide warranty work payment (my buddy had an issue with a V7-850 and Aces was really not interested in servicing it)
The latter has 2 Guzzi’s in stock and stated he wasn’t ordering anymore

I know what you mean. I've had several issues with my new laptop with windows 11. I called the help line about three times. All no English speaking countries reading a translation. I gave up and Googled the question and had it fixed myself in 15-30 minutes each time.

Most of us were around in 2008-9.  The current and accelerating economic slowdown will really put a hurtin' on all motorcycle dealers or any place that sells adult toys and they are going to have to get pretty creative to keep the doors open. The large dealers owned by corporations and car dealers will continue as long as those entities continue to fund them when sales and service alone can no longer do so.  The problem for us is that a boutique brand like MG that never generated too much sales and service revenue is likely to get cut.  For those younger people with the desire to ride and a job, I see the Chinese and Indian cheap brands really making inroads into our market just as the Japanese did 50 years ago.
I really hope I am wrong about this and am willing to be talked out of this view with well stated arguments supported by facts.

I bought my first Moto Guzzi in 1978 so I’ve been familiar with the brand for a while. I cannot remember a time when Moto Guzzi had more than a handful of very good dealers spread around the country.

If a robust dealer network is on your motorcycle must have list, there’s really only one brand that will likely suit you. That being Harley-Davidson. Many of their dealers are also struggling mightily to stay afloat.

The motorcycle segment of the powersports industry is indeed, in very poor shape. I’m referring mostly to the USA since that’s where I live. Higher interest and lower disposable income levels typically mean the fun stuff suffers first. The boating and RV markets are also in very poor shape.

It appears that several dealers are dropping out, but the divorces are being drawn out.

Erico too?

That would leave Erico with Ducs and Triumphs?

In OKC we lost our Triumph store and the Guzzi divorce continues.

To your point, I am on the other side of the age curve but my last two purchases that are keeping my 2020 V 85 company in the garage are a 2024 Triumph 400 X and a CF Moto 450 Ibex.  They so far are impressive machines. I was motivated for lighter motorcycles, build quality and cost.  I have 6 K miles between them
without a single issue.   I have two solid bikes for $12,000 total and each with a 2 year warranty.  You are not wrong.

My V7 850 is at Aces in Fort Collins right now waiting on a replacement final drive. I was told that by the time it arrives they may have completed their move of the service department to Frederick and I would be picking up my bike from there. Will try to remember to report back if they're still carrying Moto Guzzis whenever I pick mine up. I'm sure the work they've had to do on my V7 850, which was purchased from Erico because at the time Aces couldn't get a Centenario, hasn't helped their enthusiasm for servicing MGs.

I had called Erico last month to feel out if they might be any better of a place to service the final drive, though more inconvenient for me, and I got a pretty blunt "no" which could be paraphrased as that they weren't stocking many MGs anymore at that time and if I were to drop the bike off for work it would certainly need to be left there for weeks as parts come from Italy.

Some combination of the gears getting chewed up and one of the oil seals failing, with the leak starting at around 13k miles and before the final drive was due for its first oil change per Moto Guzzi's maintenance schedule. I doubt I'll get answers as to the root cause since it's out of warranty.

I called both Aces and Erico this morning and staff at both said they still sell and service Moto Guzzis and expect to continue to do so.  :thumb:

Erico looked up the replacement final drive order for my V7 850 and it showed an attempted delivery yesterday, Monday, while they were closed, so should arrive today and then they are moving the bike to their new location in Frederick to do the replacement there.

Not familiar with "Colorado Powersports in Colorado Springs", but for good measure I called Sun Powersports' Colorado Springs location, listed on the Moto Guzzi dealer map, and they're still carrying Guzzis as well and have the new green V7 Sport on their sales floor.
https://www.motoguzzi.com/us_EN/dealer-locator/?f=all

So good news is that for the time being there will continue to be three official Moto Guzzi dealers operating in CO. Frederick, Denver, and Colorado Springs.

Sun Powersports is the new name of Colorado Powersports in Colorado Springs. I hope they don't stop selling and servicing Moto Guzzi. I try my best to give them business when I buy parts for my bike. I haven't needed them for anything major but its nice to have the option if something does happen.

I picked up my V7 850 at Aces Motorcycles' new location in Frederick today, after having dropped it off as a return visit for the final drive leaking back in mid-October. The address is listed as Frederick in some places, Erie in others, but it's easy to find as it's right off I-25 and used to be a Harley dealer. The address is 3761 Monarch Street, Frederick, CO 80516. There were a few Aprilias on the floor, but I only noticed one Moto Guzzi. I asked the service writer, who might have better info than who I spoke with last on the phone, and his words were "I'm not sure if we're going to continue to carry Moto Guzzis"

So, I guess it's not a sure thing, and it didn't look good on their floor. Apologies for any misleading in here. I'm quite disappointed by this uncertainty as it's my nearest MG dealership, and with the new location it's hardly "near" anymore.

Aces replaced the final drive on my V7 850, and I haven't put enough miles on it yet to know if that's the end of it, but I sure hope it is!
I'll take some photos of the old final drive and post them to the more relevant thread: https://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=123836.0

Here are  some photos from the new Aces Location. It's a lot nicer than the awkward showroom sprawl of walking through multiple rooms, and then small parts & service area in a separate building at their former Fort Collins location.

So maybe Tommy wants to change the title of his thread?    False statements like the title make Guzzi look worse than it is, we don't need to pile on.

In retrospect I would like to change the title from:   Two MG dealers close in Colorado
to:   Two MG dealers close in Colorado?

Sloppy punctuation, my bad.

Thread drift alert: Guzzi's struggles befuddle me. I owned several BMWs over the years. IMO if you consider everything, aesthetics/performance/ character as a whole, nothing BMW makes is better than a Mandello. And yet they are, relatively speaking, thriving.

Last I looked there were still discounted Mandellos available so I should have included value in my previous post.

I think marketing and ownership experience go a long way. BMW has great marketing, including sponsoring events. In terms of ownership, I think I'm a bit of a stubborn person and some may have given up on a bike if within the first three years of ownership the steering bearings and the final drive failed, without convenient locations for service or parts stocked in a warehouse within the country for replacement. That's a souring experience.

Somewhat related, a friend of mine bought a Harley Pan Am when they first came out and loved the bike but hated the ownership experience. It had electrical gremlins where the lowering suspension froze in the upright position, and then it was found to have had a faulty frame weld from the factory where half the bike needed to be disassembled to complete the frame weld. She sold the Harley and swore them off, replaced with a BMW that's only been in for regular maintenance. Stuff like that maybe an odd exception, but it's still losing a customer. With the hassles I've had with my V7, if there wasn't a dealer in the state I would likely not want to own a modern one.
