New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
Can you remove the vent, blank it off and re position one somewhere else ?It’s only a vent to equalise pressure.
I bet they never changed the casting.
Maybe vent it at the fill/level plug? Banjo bolt and fitting with a vent hose running up along the rear shock.
No chance that some other small block final drive uniy will bolt directly up to the V9 svingarm and shaft, allowing you to use that together with - hopefully - the wheel you want?
Tonight I chopped off the superfluous lip on the V9 final drive to fit it onto my spare V7 wheel. Removed the vent bolt, expecting a nice fitment. It almost worked, but I found the plate’s bolt heads hit slightly against the spoke bosses as well. They’re the same size bolts (M8x25) as the older final drives, but Guzzi changed from external hex heads to socket caps (actually Torx heads, ughhhh), thus the bolt heads stick out more proud. As well, the bolts on this newer style plate sit closer to the edge, and a hex head would absolutely come in contact with the hub’s edge, so I’m going to order some low-profile socket caps, which hopefully will resolve this bit.
Admire your tenacity Looking forward to follow the next steps.
Button Head Cap Screws (BHCS) might also solve your clearance problem. Or you might be able to countersink the holes and use Flat Head Cap Screws (FHCS).I would try grinding down some Hex Head Cap Screws (HHCS). Of course measure some dimensions before starting.Shallow Socket Head Cap Screws make me nervous, but of course, that is what a Button Head Cap Screw or a Flat Head Cap Screw is....
Make sure you know the offset of the rim so you can spoke the new one up the same.
Also, how does the rear disc line up ?
