No need to ignore the weather here in Chattanooga, TN. 60’s and low 70’s for the next week. Bummer that I had knee replacement surgery this week so I can’t be out riding to enjoy the bikes or the weather.

But, there’s coming a day.

One of the three major reasons I learned to love winter when I moved to New England. Winter’s more than tolerable when you realize just how quickly the days start turning bright again, and you find things to do in winter that you don’t or can’t do in other seasons.

The solstice is supposed to be the first day of winter. I consider it as the middle of winter and it will be getting better now. Did I say I hate winter? Doing outside trim on residential housing in Denver year around turned me off to winter to say the least.

We could in Denver especially after we shoveled off the roof. Quicker way to get back down to ground level, well kinda. There were times when  we moved on to a new house after a snow storm we would poke a broom handle through the snow to find the lumber pack. After I moved to where I am now guys would ask me if I was going to buy a snow mobile. "Oh hell no." I had to work in the s$$t I will be damned if I am going to play in it.

Just nice to walk on the walls to scrape top plate to set trusses, whoo hooo.   I am walking & working out to get stronger to ride, surprized in how much I lost in 2 weeks in hospital.

I didn't realize you were laid up there for a few weeks Steve. Hope your recovery is going well and you get your mojo back and then some!

Winter in Western WA... great time for me to get my book organized for publishing soon in 2026, else I would be in the garage with Vroomhilda and EVie, the not so twin Guzzi's working on something.

Checking to see how TN Mark's knee is doing?   My legs quit squirting water out w/you squeeze them. Now wait for warmer days.

I had my two week appointment with the surgeon yesterday. They removed the bandage and the staples which were both a nice relief. I’m a bit ahead on the recovery schedule with 0 degree to 108 degree movement with my new knee.
My next goal, along with PT, is to transition from a walker to a cane in the coming weeks.

"Personal finance and investing". The book is both simple for beginners and deeply detailed. I address issues relevant to today, and in many chapters, what no one else has covered.

I so empathize Mark as I have had two minor knee surgeries myself.  I thought my back pain was bad until I had knee issues. Whole nother level of pain and suffering. Get well soon.

My wife has had both of her knees done, at the same time no less. She was insistent, the surgeon didn't want to do it but she pressured him. She said if only one was done she probably wouldn't go back for the second. The insurance company made her go through some kind of orthoscopic treatment before they would approve the replacements. I think that was injecting cortisone directly into the joint. Those were bad enough.

I’ve been having cortisone shots in both knees every 3 months for a few years. It stopped working on my right knee. 90 days after the second quarterly shot stopped working was  Dec 15th so Dec 16th I had that knee replaced.
Let’s just say, I fully understand people getting them both at once.
