Yammie Noob rides the V7 Sport
« on: January 10, 2026, 07:40:14 AM »
Nice review.  He says a few dumb things maybe (shaft jacking?  Wut?), but overall he really gets it.

I watched this yesterday. As you say he mostly gets it. He also over does the torque reaction. I had real early Airheads, the torque reaction is nothing like those. Maybe I am numb but I don't notice either one.

first time I sat on a Guzzi I was amazed at the torque twist, you quickly get used to it and don't think of it

I never realized he was based here in Austin, kinda cool to see him on roads I ride weekly

He uses a huge number of words. (could have been 1/3 the length).  Most of them are the right ones.

He did a good review of the MG, not everyone understands the bike, but when you do.   Nothing compares.

He has another video out in which he rates modern retro bikes. The V7 didn't come in #1 but #3 but again had a lot of good things to say about it. The Triumph T120 came out on top. I can understand why, I had one it was a good bike but I never bonded with it. Handling wasn't very good heavy and would wiggle the bars on a steep downhill which are quite common where I live.

It's just opinion.  But note that it was in front of many bikes from makers with far greater resources.  I found it interesting that there was not a Harley.  With the demise of the air cooled sportster, I suppose he does not consider the water-Sportsters "retro" enough anymore for that list.  They would not make my list either but the air cooled would have been pretty far up my list for character and retro.

The new Sportster is a visual disaster as far as I am concerned. I had an older 883 Evo a few years ago. I liked the bike except for the suspension or lack of actually, just not suitable for touring so I moved on. I have always wished I kept it as a backup running around town bike.

I vowed to never watch another "Yammie Noob" vid since he is such a jerk. But I broke my vow and watched this one, and it was actually a good review. The bit about the torque jack is nonsense but he is allowed to think what he wants. Also, not quite sure why he had to learn how to take corners. The bike is a natural, though I have not yet ridden a sport.

He didn’t think the bike could corner and thought the motor would blow up if he wound it out. He has a lot to learn about Guzzis.

He is a hyper performance junkie at heart, so I was glad to see how much he liked the V7 Sport.

He certainly has built a successful niche channel with over 1.5 million subscribers.  He's doing just fine $$$$$

I disagree, for example, I could have spent a couple of hours changing the left headlight bulb on my Ram. A couple of tricks I learned on Youtube got it done in less than half and hour. The recoil on a 15 hp Evinrude outboard is another example using a C-clamp.  :thumb:

I watch very little conventional television but I do watch a fair amount of YouTube. I've especially been watching all the Moto Guzzi 1400 content I can find after buying the Eldorado.

I've also seen a lot of other Guzzi reviews. I don't believe I saw one that didn't really like the V7 Sport.

Then there's the guy who had his V7 painted. The side panels look great in Tenni green and did the tank until they randomly slopped gold and green on the perfectly painted silver tank. Crazy ugly IMHO. And why, oh why when you're painting your V7, why not also paint the black rear fender. Is there some reason besides cost why all the V7 rear fenders are gloss black?

When your 6 year old brings home a 'painting', hang it on the refrigerator. Don't transfer it to your once beautiful Moto Guzzi V7 gas tank.

I remember that.  It was an older V7 Special as I recall, not an 850, and certainly not a V7 Sport.

I should have been more specific.  I use some utube for cooking, painting, and other things of that sort.
Not motorcycle opinions, as a general rule.  I'm capable of making my own.

I think he's pretty good/interesting.  He's mellowed dramatically from his younger self...as have most of us!!  I suspect his video will probably result in more V7 sales over the next few months than have ever occurred in the same time period.  I'm hoping his comment re dual gauges will result in Guzzi having to reinstate them at least on the Sport and/or Special!!!

U tube has been helpful for me with my old TJ that I’m trying to bring back to spec.
I have been able to diagnose several different issues like lose timing chain and worn out rocket arm and pushrod chatter.

Ha ha, nice.

But look,  we're all a work in progress, I get it.

Except Youboobs business model being hits = $ means far too many "creators" choose purposely to spread misinformation and controversy and crap because it equals hits.

I just prefer not to add to those revenue streams as much as possible.

It will raise attention but likely not much in sales as Guzzi still has a pitiful dealer presence, will have to drive hundreds of miles, and most riders think they need a local dealer.

I hear that, but it’s easy to forget roughly 25% of the US population resides within the top 10 largest metropolitan areas, all of which have dealers.

It can also send you down a huge rabbit hole when working on things.. It's quite amazing how far you can get with your own take on things..
Many times just getting into the flow of things is the best way to go..It's just another tool, but don't discount how you do things..

What other people think about certain Motorcycles carries about zero weight.
