Bar Backs for V85TT
« on: February 09, 2026, 02:36:25 PM »
I have a 2025 V85TT and love it. The ergonomics are almost perfect for me. After putting around 9k on the bike this year I can only find one thing that would be a slight improvement. If the handlebars could be moved back a bit it would be perfect. Any recommendations for some bar backs that would not require changing cables or wires? Thanks.

I'll add, they are more pricey, but they are very well designed and made, and Moto Machines is a stand up company.

Have you looked on Amazon for either 7/8 or 1-1/8" (not sure what size handlebars are on the V85) bar riders/bar backs? I know for my R1200GS's I have gotten units that look eerily similar too and function exactly like the $182 offerings from Wunderlich for $16.59.

Wanna guess which is which?

Likely Chinese knock off crap.  I wouldn’t touch it.

^^^^Which one is the knockoff? I mean both are machined blocks of aluminum with a couple of threads cut into them that are sandwiched between the factory riser caps and the triple with steel bolts that even if there are of unknown quality are still many times stronger than the aluminum they are threaded into. A chunk of aluminum sandwiched between two factory pieces of aluminum are not a lot of tech to go wrong.

FWIW I've been using the >$20 knockoffs for 10's of 1000's of trouble free miles over several years and several bikes and am still around to talk about it

Just to confirm, you all have been able to add these without any problems with the cables and wires being long enough?

You can answer that question yourself by just unbolting the handlebars and pulling them back to the point they are comfortable for you.

I installed some Amazon setback risers on my 1000SP.  Made it a much better ergonomic fit for me.  Did not need them on the V85 as it fit good out of the box

I have the heli on one v85 and the cheap chinas on the other. The heli are a perfect fit and automatically line up the forks and bars. I had to order about four sets of cheapos to find one that works because the holes on a Guzzi are slightly different set apart from normal bars. You could drill out or file the hole to fit but that sucks. If you can spend the $ do it. AF1 usually has them in stock. If not pm me and I'll see if I can find the cheap ones for you. Either way they fit fine.

I tried a pair of ROX bar risers on my 2020 V85 and it was very tight without rerouting all cables and wires. Not worth the effort to me.

If you head down the path of moving the bars up or back and you reroute things make sure the bike tracks straight with no hands while riding. I just recently saw a video about how a guys brand new Royal Enfield would not track straight he had it in the shop several times and could not resolve. Finally the shop found that the clutch cable was routed in a way that the bike pulled to the right. They rerouted problem solved.
Don't count every day. Make every day count.

I tried a pair of the Rox risers that I purchased from another member here after he told me that a dealer had installed them on his v85.  I didn't like the fit or the lack of cable/line slack so I contacted Rox and was told they don't have a set for the v85 yet, my inquiry was last year.  Last week I ordered a Hella HR11174 so, I guess I'll try their product.  The Hella website indicates no cable/line mods are required.

2/16/26, update: Installed the Helibar riser HR11174 today on my '23 Travel.  Heli includes toll free number if you have installation questions with a real and competent person to answer questions.  Installation was easy/simple. After I installed the Heli riser, I readjusted the mirror clamp halves with the MG factory installed punch mark in the hbar, did the same with hbar punch mark at the riser to hbar split. So, basically the controls are in the same position as the factory intended them except that the riser positioned the hbar higher & further aft.  And, I was satisfied with the amount of slack left in cables, etc.  Due to the salt, brine & who knows what else on our beautiful northeastern Ohio roads right now I didn't do a test ride but think it'll be better then it was..for me.

I put a pair of adjustable Rox on my Mandello. They were well made and fit the bill perfectly. The new owner wanted to keep them on. The only issue was that they were a bit fiddly. Access to a couple of the bolts was kind of blocked, they needed to be tightened hand tight and then the exposed two could then be torqued to cinch the the lower clamps.

Its certainly a preference thing. I have bought multiple bikes that had ROX risers on them and they are one of the 1st things I remove. I;ve tried to like them but no matter where I adjust them they feel like ape hangers to me and give the steering a weird feel.
