I brought it home today, a good friend flew me down to a reasonably close airport. I was on the freeway by 1pm and totally smitten with her handling by 1:01. After a couple of ferry rides and some of the best curves and sunshine, she is parked in the drive all tucked in for the night. A few updates on electronics will be first, a new phone holder and perhaps a newer power point, no multimedia as Mark suggested. Next I can see that the corrosion needs some attention, a little tender care and perhaps a drop of acid will make her just a little foxier. Thanks for the encouragementStephen
Well , good for you , I in fact took it for a road-test and I found it brought back fond memories , until I went back outside 5 minutes after returning it and there was already an oilpuddle under it . I didn't ask if anyone in service had done an oil change ( and of course over filled it) . Rethought the idea of going down another rabbit hole .
Oh my, I'd buy it as a parts bike if it were near me. Look at it up close, test ride it and don't say I didn't warn you. That test ride could easily cost your wallet their asking price. Take pictures and share your experience here. You'll likely love it. Some of those models had a dodgy Demand sensor. That one is likely fine with that mileage on it. One way to keep the demand sensor healthy is to only refill the engine with 3.5 liters of oil. That way the oil mist won't get up into the demand sensor and cause an issue. If you get it, you'll be stylin and profilin in no time. The Eldo 1400 gets attention and very positive comments every time you stop.
Hi mark. Where did you get that information about the oil level damaging the TPS sensor. If I had had that information when I had mine and after I had to replace it twice in 5k miles, I would maybe have kept mine. They are really great mile munching machines. Probably the best motorcycle motor I’ve ever had and I’ve had most all the popular brands over the past 50+ years of motorcycling.
Blackwell tires, IMHO, have a negative impact on the aesthetics of the Eldorado 1400. Even more so on the black Eldorado. Agreed, this was a available and a known capacity/rated tire to fit the duration that I expect to get from the front. Is the oil leak just a loose connection or is it more involved? The oil leak is the fitting going into the oil pan, not complicated. Parts have been ordered and are all here to repair it.So glad to read your wife enjoyed the trip! The first thing my wife said when I brought home our Eldorado was; ‘she’s beautiful’. I couldn’t agree more. Mine love the esthetic also, next tire purchase will involve both tires and I will definely go back to white wall, although I must find one with good rain dispersion...I have a well used rainsuit!
