Breva transmission and CARC oil change questions
« on: March 14, 2026, 01:34:14 PM »
I’m looking at doing my first fluid changes on my 2007 Breva 1100.

Transmission: it looks like the transmission drain plug will drain onto the exhaust pipe, cat, and center stand. Am I seeing that right? And if so, what to do?

CARC: there is a bracket holding the rear brake line in place that is almost touching the CARC drain plug. It’s close enough to prevent a socket fitting on the drain plug, and my drain plug is torqued too tight to remove with an open ended spanner. Again, am I seeing that right? Does that bracket come off?

I hope the brake bleeding and oil change are a lot more straightforward 😵‍💫

Pinch a sheet of alfoil from the missus and fold that under the drain plug to direct the oil flow. I never had an issue draining the CARC.

Make a chute to direct the oil into a catch pan.
Make sure it's sturdy and stable.  The oil will gush out with some force.
I don't know about the CARC plug. Maybe you can gently move the line to fit a proper wrench.
Are you doing 'lefty loosey'?  :cheesy:

The line will easily flex out of the way on the CARC.
If you leave the centrestand up, the oil will just drop straight out.

The brake line on my CARC is held in place with a clip, and the clip is very nearly touching the drain bolt. Is there a way to remove the clip?

Put the corner of a pan on wheel the other side on a 6x6, it'll go strait down.

Pull line out & pop it up with a screwdriver, spray silicone spray on knob in hole.

I use a box wrench on both, not a socket. As others have said, a small shield to direct the transmission works wonders.
