New Guzzi Dealer in Northern VA
« on: March 16, 2026, 12:15:27 PM »
After many years, the only Guzzi Dealer in my area "La Moto" is finally closed. Talk about a soup sandwich of a dealership. Sales, Service, Parts, ALL a mess.

Thankfully, our big local multi brand super center dealer "Coleman Powersports" https://www.wherethepoweris.com/ has picked up Guzzi and Aprilia. They are a big local long time dealership with IMO a decent reputation. They've long carried the big 3 Jap brands along with Ducati, and the 3 wheeled insect looking things and all the ATVs and jet skis, now they have added the Piaggio group. Good techs, large parts stock, etc. I am assuming they bought the whole shebang from LaMoto.

Rumor also has it that the Indian Dealer in Dulles is picking up Guzzi. I haven't confirmed that.

I like their upfront sales policies.
Our Promise to You – Transparent Pricing - Prices reflect MSRP or dealer-set pricing unless otherwise noted. Manufacturer Freight charges ($230–$1,500), assembly/prep fees ($50–$675), and documentation fees ($99–$489) are not included and will be itemized. Taxes, title, registration, and finance charges are additional.

They have a pretty decent stock selection including two of the Corsas.

I expect to see more Guzzi's on the road as they are cross shopped. Three guys at the Bikes and Breakfast all told me they they were looking at the V85 at the new Dealership, and it was their first time seeing a Guzzi in the flesh.

We had a really good small Guzzi shop just outside of Phoenix.  Didn't sell a ton of them but the owner was a BIG Guzzi fan.  Stopped by today.  They are dropping them.  Piaggio had a huge dealer take on everything they offer next town over-not even 20 miles away.  The small shop had a top notch tech.

What shop gave up Guzzi and who is the other dealer?

The company's primary objective these days is to combine all the brands under one roof. So the future is in their "Motoplex" concept: dealers that carry Vespa, Piaggio, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi. Together...whenever and wherever possible.

So they will add a minimum of $380 up to $2,660 above retail.

They will only add "fee's" on top of retail while they can get them. Wait until there is 2 or 3 year old leftover stock sitting on the sales floor collecting dust then all of a sudden these "fee's" that originally could ne be waived up and vanish like a fart in the wind.

I dunno, I see some unscrupulous dealers advertising steep discounts on leftovers to lure you in then hit you with their fees to get the price back up to full retail.

I'm guessing that due to the wide variety of what they sell, they are listing the different manufacturers. What I don't get is why there would be a different DOC fee. I need to take a ride over and check out/ask. Freight is set by the manufacturer, and setup will vary, but that is also negotiable/variable.

I'm just glad to see a large reputable dealer picking up Piaggio. the prior dealer did nothing for the brand. Their primary sales were for scooters to all the young latte sippers in Arlington.

Yes the wide spread in the doc fee is surprising. Dealers in WV that choose to charge a doc fee are required by the State that it be the same on all transactions. However the little white lie dealers tell to customers is "the State requires us to charge you this doc fee". WV Automobile Dealers Association has lobbied the legislature for years keeping the practice "legal" and for the maximum doc fee allowed to increase to $575 now, and many choose to charge their customers this amount. Thankfully there are some, along with a few motorcycle dealers, that don't play the "fee game" at all.

Is it actually that, or is that just a number Guzzi shows and the dealer pays actual freight cost? I know on cars and trucks manufactures have to charge every dealer that same amount, heck if you pick up your Corvette at the factory in Bowling Green you still have to pay $2,500 "freight".

But motorcycles are different, at least the Japanese brands. For example Kawasaki might charge their listed freight if they ship a single bike but often ships units for no charge if the dealer buys a certain number. For instance their shipment of new KLE 500's will arrive in with his stock order "freight free" yet Kawasaki shows a $650 freight charge on the KLE. In fact I specifically asked yesterday if you'd charge me freight on a KLE when they come in and he said no. I have to think Piaggio offers similar freight terms. Of course on a hot item many might charge the freight fee even if they didn't pay it just for added profit.

I paid $1,100 for freight for my '26 V7 850 last September. I was told that there was a $300 tariff fee on it. It wasn't listed anywhere so I assume it was added to the freight charge. I am not going to hold my breath waiting for the refund from the government.

I've worked with the books at three powersports/motorcycle dealerships.  Never ever have I seen delivery not charged to the dealer.  Ever.
Always paid.
As for those fees just disappearing on left over bikes?  Again-NEVER seen it.  They were paid.  OEM's will come back with plenty of different incentives, not always cash, for a dealer on old stock.

Here's one example.  Triumph will offer from time to time "1500 in accessory credit on new purchase" type of thing.  Good for the dealer?  Maybe.  Why?
Dealer pays half of the 1500.  And the other half from big T?  Credit against future accessory orders.  Any of you guys who own your own business wanna take that or similar?

Or BMW autos in North America.  Several years ago BMW added a $500 charge to every new BMW sold on top of all the other nonsense they add to everything for US advertising.  Not negotiable.  Added to every dealer invoice.

It goes on and on.

This is a common dealer tactic to get people in the door and why you should base your decision using only the OTD price. All the other numbers used to get the OTD price are irrevelant.
