V85 Euro 4 Check Engine After Service

Hey all, I just bought a 2020 V85tt and had the dealer complete a full service on the bike before I picked it up.  They did all the fluids, valve check, several service bulletins / recalls, etc.  The dealer is over an hour from me and the weather isn't great yet so I trailered the bike home.  As soon as I started the bike, I got a check engine light.  Not the "wrench" service icon, it's the orange engine icon.  It comes on when I turn the key to the on position and doesn't go off until I turn off the bike.  I rode it 10 miles after getting it home and there were no obvious issues with the bike.  I did disconnect the battery for a bit it hopes it would reset but it did not.

I know the obvious answer is to bring it back to the dealer and have it scanned but since they are 1.5 hours away, I'd need to rent a trailer, take a day off from work, etc.  I'm willing to do that but looking for any insight into anything else I can check myself before making the trip.  Thanks in advance!

I suggest calling your dealer to inform them right away. 

Then either invest in a scanner and cable that will allow you to clear the error code, or wait until you have the time to take an afternoon ride which would include stopping at the dealer. 

Until then I would ride it without worry as long as all seems well.   A small piece of electrical tape over the glowing icon will lessen the annoyance.

Thanks, it's like you can read my mind.  I already spoke with the dealer, of course they want it back to scan it. I'm going to run it for now until there are any issues that pop up and take a day to ride down to the shop for a scan when the weather is good.

I don't know what exact code reader is required, but if you figure that out you can probably have it delivered by Amazon by this time tomorrow, for $20.  I'd want to read the code for piece of mind.

Take it back or cancel check, most likely oil changers what you got.

Maybe they didn’t tighten down the oil filter enough and there’s a minor pressure issue?

Thanks all for the reply's, I rode the bike yesterday and the light was off!  Rode 30 miles with no problems and it never came back on.  I assume that the rainstorm I got stuck in while towing the bike home introduced some moisture into something which dried out overnight (but who knows).  All good for now.
