If there is any sticking up from bearing stop in the hub you could just use a long punch on that edge. Otherwise, what Charlie said.
Just changed my fronts a few years ago cause front end felt funny but w/sidecar you don't feel it UNLESS you have sidecar in the air.
Oooops, weldor not welder!
I’m sure the welder solution works better, don’t see many welders at state parks though.
Did you pry open the seal and check for grease? The Chinese are as bad if not worse than Luigi.Get a "good" set and install them when you get back home.
I’m not sure where to find a higher quality set..
Rodkyl had the winning solution in my case.dremmel with metal disc cut out angles to case 12 3-6-9 than cut out as much as I could, small pry bard broke it out in chunks. I’m sure the welder solution works better, don’t see many welders at state parks though. The picture shows the left side intact, right side in parts. Now installed new ones, made in china bought at NAPA. They work and we’re riding again. Thanks for feedback from Guzzi family.
Managed to whack out my two wheel bearings today. Had just enough purchase to drive out the stuck outer race (just like yours). I'm replacing them with the cheapest I could find on the bay, which happen to be allegedly good quality PFI 'murican branded.
If you had included that pertinent bit of information in your original post, it would have helped... Curious where one finds a Dremel with metal cutting discs at a campground.
Glad you got an idea from RoadKill, sure miss that guy here. TOO BAD members here gave him so much crap that he left. Just like Roper, Beetle, and many others. At least I got to meet him & hang out for an evening when he was here in GA.
Open to any and all suggestions on how to remove the bearing casing from the hub. I’ve looked through the forum search about it but I don’t have a tool that can get in from the back side, I do have a hand drill and assorted bits, thinking if I could drill a couple small holes it might weaken it enough. Even being careful and slow I might screw up the bearing seat. Any ideas. No chisels along. Long way back into town. A bearing puller would be no help now.
