New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
That magnetic tank bag on the V7 you can see in the background is the bomb. I've had it for 25 years, used it on three different bikes. It stays perfectly secure, is quite flat but also expandable with a 360-degree zipper, and has a HUGE map pocket. It was made by Joe Rocket and I think I paid $65 for it. Too bad the V85 tank is plastic.
Since I couldn't find this info anywhere (including on Givi's site), and had to find out myself through experimentation, let me report that the the Givi Tank Lock flange #BF46 works just fine on the newer V85s.The flange also comes with some milled pieces you are supposed to bolt under the steering stem to limit the steering lock. I didn't even try to install those so I don't know for sure if they would have fit. The bag in the photo is the CRM108 - pretty much the simplest Givi tank lock bag you can get. There is no way it is really the advertised 8 L capacity, but anyway it is still pretty much what I was looking for - just big enough to hold gloves, phone, wallet, water bottle, ear plugs etc, but small enough not to interfere at all when I'm riding. The phone pocket is too small for my Samsung S10, but anyway I don't use my phone when I ride. I'll likely use to pocket just to hold pieces of paper that I have written directions onto. The tank lock system works great, but the way the front of the bag hovers above the tank is a little weird. I still think it is worth it for the convenience, compared to dealing with straps.
