AN-3 Fittings OK for Brake Lines?

I’ll be modifying my V9’s rear brake line from the ABS module to the rear master cylinder soon. I need to chop off a bend, and then add a hard line extending back to where the M/Cs new position will be. Will standard 3/16” brake tube and AN-3 fittings/couplers work, or do I need metric style components?

  AN-3 thread is 3/8-24. Flare is JIC 37 degrees. Not compatible with SAE threads and flares. I've changed all the oil & brake lines to AN. The holes for the fittings   have to be drilled and tapped for the AN thread.

   PS. I used stainless braid over teflon hose.

It's 2 completely different systems.

Pick one and stay with it.

I don't know that one is better than the other.

Appreciate the replies so far. Here’s a pic of what I want to do.



Chop at the yellow hash mark (2) and extend the hard line farther back (3).  I considered going with all flexible line, but considering it’s so close to the motor and my foot, a flexible line could melt or get caught/bumped around.

I’m also not sure if that hard brake line is 3/16” with a thick hard coating, because the 3/16” that I bought at the auto store has a smaller OD.

And I considered instead of cutting the hard line, simply removing it entirely, but I’m not sure what kind of joint coupler is up front (1) connecting the hard line to the flexible line.

About the banjo fitting (4), I figured an AN-3 would fit here, so long as I use a metric thread coupler. Bad thinking?
