Dear MGNOC State Reps: "Moto Guzzi ... and MORE!"
« on: July 28, 2026, 09:04:57 AM »
Dear MGNOC State Reps:

Having put on motorcycle and antique automobile breakfasts, tours, rallies, conventions and numerous other assorted affairs for decades, I've begun to change my ways. I'm still certainly dedicated to what I do, but I've started to approach the process with a little less specificity than I used to. So, what does that mean?

It means there's no need to be as strict as I was back in the day. If I run a Moto Guzzi breakfast, for example, I certainly want Mandello del Lario machines to show up. But more important than quantity, it's the quality of the experience and camaraderie that counts.

So nowadays, I promote the activities that I organize under the umbrella of "Moto Guzzi ... and More!" In the interest of moving a message of inclusion as opposed to exclusion. If we get twelve like-minded riders together on a Sunday morning with 7 or 8 on Guzzi's and the remainder on BMW, Honda or whatever ... who cares? We're all friends anyway, and that's what's most important.

Obviously, there's still plenty of room for strict rules of engagement. Such as the show field at a National Rally would be clearly Moto Guzzi but there are certainly other marques out there in the general parking and camping area.

So you might also want to remove the lines of demarcation and promote an ethic of inclusion as opposed to a barrier of exclusion.
It's as simple as saying "Moto Guzzi ... and More!"

P.S. -- and it not only positions us as the leader of the pack, but who knows; it might help entice those attendees on "other" marques to ... go Guzzi!

We in Wisconsin have always used the statement "All brands welcome"
Tend to have close to 50% at our rally.

The Maryland breakfasts have always been "all brands welcome" whatever one rides or drives. This month attendees arrived on/in two BMWs, one (real) Moto Morini, a Can-Am Spyder, seven Guzzis and a VW Jetta Sportwagen.

With a brand as niche and small as Moto Guzzi, being too exclusive might find one dining alone.

I've always been inclusive - I usually say Moto Guzzis and friends. So many are getting older and just drive their cars to my rally or have switched to trikes or other brands. Of course at rallies, awards go to people who rode their Moto Guzzi here.
