Another Convert

Out of the blue, I'm suddenly the owner of a low mileage, unabused 1977 Convert.
It took a little fiddling and some new tires to get it rolling again, but it's like having a new bike.
Charlie M. went through this bike more than a decade ago and his wonderful work is in evidence everywhere.

My first Moto Guzzi in 1978 was a silver 1977 Convert. Loved that bike! Ended up with two others and a 1978 G-5 over the years.

Someday, I hope to have another Convert.

I love my Convert. Such a different riding experience. It's a motorcycle that says 'slow down - enjoy the ride' I keep it in low most of the time, as you can easily run at 60mph in low without issue. Much better engine response and even a LITTLE engine breaking off throttle. 

Took it on a 150 mile ride in the Virginia Mountains and once I adjusted, I was surprised at how stable and poised the motorcycle was, even riding aggressively (which I rarely do on this bike).  The biggest adjustment for me is that when riding on the aggressive side, or even in twisties, I generally use the transmission and gears to control speeds. On the Convert, you scrub speed with the brakes. I will say that the linked brakes on the Convert are superb. Balanced, powerful and easy to control. It just takes muscle memory and changes of habit for a rider who only uses the rear brake for slight trail braking and to balance out the front in hard braking.

Enjoy it Nick! One day I hope to make it up to Canada to ride, but I can't bring myself to take the Convert on more than clear sky day trips.
