1970 Ambassador output (drive) shaft ring nut.  this was loose. is there a torque spec for this?   looks like some sort of lock washer behind it.

If that output shaft nut is loose than the lock washer has broken it's tab that locks it. Replace it, seal, oring(if one on shaft). Watch steel ball in pocket for speedo drive. I would have to look up for torque if there is one, just tight w/1/2" breaker bar & lock the tab in groove cutout on ringnut.

Thanks.    I don't think the previous owner bent the lock washer tab.  it's my first time in there.

Nut, layshaft securing   MG# 14219310   115 to 129 ft. lbs.

It's quite difficult to get anywhere near that torque figure, so "tight"/until you fart/one "BRRRRRT" with the cordless impact.  Then bend one tang of the star lockwasher down into a notch.
