Proficient Motorcycling Book
« on: August 29, 2026, 09:13:10 AM »

I came upon this very interesting motorcycle book and after spending some time reading portions of it, I decided to buy it on Amazon for somewhere around $23. A lot of good information for riders of all levels. Maybe someone has mentioned this book in the past so if they have, I’ll give it another shout out..

Good find! David L. Hough (I understand the "ough" in his name is pronounced the same as the "ough" in rough) is a well known and respected author on motorcycle (and sidecar) operation and safety. I routinely looked forward to his articles in Motorcycle Consumer News, and considered his articles, along with those by Lawrence Grodsky, to be priority reading whenever I came across them. Enjoy the book and stay safe.

Yep.  Spent many an hour with that book.  Also the Sidecar book.  I learned a TON from that one.

I took the Stayin Safe (Grodsky training) twice.  After well over 30 years on a motorcycle I learned plenty of new skills-and I was pretty sure I had "arrived".  Nope.
Not the basics-that I knew.  The "brains" part.  THAT was eye opening.
