I left home it was about 100 degrees. My route took me through Pittsburg,Nevada,Bowling Green and Lousiana with a late evening arrival in Mexico. My first surprise/disappointment was when THE mexican restaurant (remember I'm in Mexico) no longer serves any  alcohol,so I settled for sweet tea. After I had a good steak fajita meal I mounted up and went to Dollar General and got a brand new bath towel and a jug of cold lemonade. First comment: is there anywhere left in the country more than ten miles from a Dollar General and is there anything in a DG that doesn't cost more than a dollar? When I arrived at the city park where I have stayed multiple times that NO TENT CAMPING and ABSOLUTELY NO TENT CAMPING PERMITTED are apparently the only two informational signs available in Mexico. I did find a Shelter house with nice aluminum picnic tables and free entertainment courtesy of the homeless locals. I also still have a brand new towel. I will keep this story going for the following three days of this adventure if any interest is shown

My idea one day is to open a $2 store, you know, for the people that enjoy the finer things in life.

These all turn out to be place names in Missouri. So maybe it's kind of a joke or mystery that we've got going?
The name, Pittsburg, instead of Pittsburgh caught my attention. A US Post Office reform around 1900 dropped the letter "h" from all the Pittsburghs in the country, but the people in Pennsylvania successfully petitioned to get theirs back. So I looked up it and all the other names and found them all in Missouri!

Theres a nice little non advertised free camping spot on the Mississippi if you do another trip this side of the state just north of clarksville. Silo Access Boat Ramp on the map.

Kevin, Mexico has gotten to be a favorite middle of the way stop for me on the way to the races in  Springfield.  slid in both times this weekend right before dark looking to get a Margarita and a shower got fooled on both counts this time. I did not ever visualize that you were that close. I kinda miss the old paper map days when you laid it out on the table and it was right there. Another thing that jumped out at me was the open grate bridges.I kinda have a lovehate thing going on there.I can't say they were fun to ride on but I hate that they  are gone]
