Here's a link to a Facebook post I put up a few days ago.

HELP!
Stranded in Le Mans with a non charging NorgeGT.
Guzzi dealer says I need a new alternator.
I very much doubt that

So I pushed it down the street from the Guzzi dealership as they wouldn't charge my battery over night.
As I didn't have a tester etc I was going to buy a charger and charge it up and fault find. 100m down the street was a local garage who is charging up the battery overnight. And keeping the bike inside.
The hipster Guzzi "dealership" were more interested in selling me a battery or a tattoo rather than be of any real help.
Anyway, we're in Le Mans for the next couple of nights at least until I can either fix it myself or get recovered. But I doubt it will come to that.
So keep the advice coming, luckily we've our travelling rum, 12 year old Abuelo, to lift our spirits.
Hey ho.

From David Wylie..
My 2015 Norge stopped charging on a short day trip. Flat bedded to home. WHAT I FOUND. The main 30 amp fuse had blew. Traced the issue the high beam ground connections. Completely corroded. That would trip the fuse and made it look like relay problem. Repaired the connections cleaned all the relay contacts, charged the battery and have ridden it for 10,000 km. Note: Use the mode switch to get to the charging icon to check if the circuit is charging. From trip 1; hold to left to get to chrome, quick flip to get to charge.

After a restless night I took an Uber back to the NorgeGT. The garage mechanic had charged and tested my battery all was fine.
I swapped the charging relay over 1st as that had been one of the solutions suggested. ( it's at the front just in front of the LH fill in cover beside the tank.) Which made no difference.
Then....
PROBLEM SOLVED
the LH dip headlight black spade had come disconnected and shorting out blowing the 30amp fuse. On the NorgeGT this is a dedicated high low fuse in front of the battery..
But weirdly stops it charging.
Maybe the ECU decides.

Alan Greesdale said..
On the Stelvio the alternator exciter wire comes from the light circuit. No lights (relay failure or short) means no alternator output.

So since then we've had a few great days on the road, one bad morning travelling through the coastal devastation West of Bordeaux caused by the forest fires. Some many homes and lives ruined. Others randomly were lucky.

We're in Biarritz now for a couple of nights relaxing .
