Suspension shops in Seattle area?
« on: October 09, 2026, 12:41:12 PM »
Does anyone have recommendations for shops in the Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia area that I could trust rebuilding the forks on my 99 Bassa? I read the service manual and watched a video on rebuilding Stelvio forks. Seems more than I'm up to. Feel free to convince me otherwise. I had a Multistrada with Ohlins suspension and sent fork tubes to a place in Gresham, OR (GP suspension I think) for fixing blown seals twice. I'd like to avoid the cost of shipping.

Your going to find that some inner seals are no longer available.  Just did my Jackal last week and had to reuse the inner race.  Called all over and couldn't fine any anywhere.
Should last another 10K I hope.

Interesting.  I would think that an industrial supplier would be able to provide the seals.

Then again, Italian engineers do some bizarre, stupid stuff.  My Beta used some ridiculous size o-rings, 1.6mm x 61.3mm IIRC.  I bought some 2mm x 62mm o-rings from McMaster-Carr that worked much better than the stock o-rings.

Same with some Grimeca calipers I needed to rebuild.  Non-standard seals, I suspect to avoid being sue by Brembo because they copied their design for the rest of the caliper.

The desire to re-invent the wheel is always a mistake in machine design.
