Another "youngster" in the flock. I'm starting to feel less akward now!  :D

Welcome, and congrats on the bike. As most of us, especially your old man, will tell you, beware of the Guzzi bug; once bitten, you can't be cured!  ;-T

I like to ride gravel as fast as I can......on my KLR650 and was gravelklr for several years on TWT (two-wheeled Texans).  Pronounced "gravelkiller" I chose it because my MIL took one look at the new 2007 KLR and said "Great, it says KILLER on the side!"  But then my buddies and newfound friends started calling me Gravel Guy and it just stuck.  I weighed my Quota 1100ES on the Co-op scales the other day with panniers and 1/2 tank of gas.....600lbs!  I'm not scared to take her off-road but won't be speeding/ sliding/ jumping like with the KLR.

Hell, some people consider the KLR to be an overweight off-roader lol.

Back in the 70's storming around the American south on a BSA, a Suzie tea-kettle and a couple Z1s, canoeing the rivers, camping or sailing around in the gulf - I was outside as much as possible.  Had a tag frame on my bikes back then - a gift shop trinket - that read "SunBum."  Still doing some of that stuff (with less hair and some sun-damaged skin to show for it)

When I developed a burning desire for motorcycles (early sixties) and was reading every Cycle World as it hit the newstands, road racing and the English scene was everything. Mike Hailwood was my hero (still is). Cafe racers were all the rage in England and the closest most of would get to sit on a bike that was at least "racey looking". Most of the factories at one time or another produced a cafe or "clubman" style bike. I am honored to have 2 of those sitting right next to my cherished V7C in the garage, a 1954 BSA Goldstar (one of the first 100 with the now Iconic big fin head), and a Velocette Thruxton, the bike that dethroned the Goldstar at the IOM Clubman races. Hince the name "Clubman".

P.S. After 30 yrs as deckhand, mate, and capt. on fishing boats in the Gulf and Carib., I know right where Navarre is. Wonder how the Cobia season was? Could sure some right now for a sandwich or the smoker. Good riding, and be safe.

I like coffee and lack a good imagination/patience to be any more creative. I buy green beans, roast them, grind daily, use a french press and am constantly trying to make it better and be consistent. Being consistent is the hard part as there are so many variables.  **C  I have a Bassa and am planning on getting a Stelvio or maybe using a new V7 classic for a dual sport bike to replace my WR250X. Maybe I need to start a thread to see if anyone is using a V7 for dirt roads..... :o

In the old Ren and Stimpy cartoon, Stimpy wrote a poem to his favorite cat litter company saying that he likes it because it "Stays crunchy even in milk!"

Love it!
Have you heard Delta Moon? They do Son House's version and it's killer.

My pseudonym is Maynard G Krebs, a tv character played by Bob Denver (later to be Gilligan) on an old show called Dobie Gillis. Maynard was a beatnik who liked jazz and bongos but did not like work. Seemed like a good alter ego for me.

P.s. I am not quite old enough to have watched Dobie Gillis when it first came out!

All my life people have been mystified how to pronounce my last name, Smietanka. [Take out the 'I' and it's phonetic; put the 'I' back in and it's Polish. It means: cream.]   In the bars  the intelligentsia of my rugby club resolved any confusion dubbing me "SPUDDY."

I like a fine Cigar on occasion.
Seems that Stogie is the preferred spelling for the stick.
Most forums, this spelling is taken.

I remembered an ad for hooked on phonics... Am I the only one who finds it ironic that phonics is spelled like that?
I digress, phonetically, stogey works too.  Been using stogey as a handle for darn near 20 years.

In my younger days I used to ride with a lot of Harley riders, since most of them were weekend "badboys", I got sick of them always bashing what bike I would be riding, whether it was a BMW, Ducati or Guzzi.

I would definitely harass them back and came up with HOG4DNR for my plate. It basically means I would eat them alive out on the road. My wife would always knew if I saw a Harley in the distance, I would overtake with extreme prejudice, slow down, let them read the plate, and take back off ~;.

I remember coming back the the Peterson H/D run to Key West and this custom chopper tried passing me on my R1100RS, needless to say, I do not get passed by HD's or clones. We were clipping off a pretty good pace (yes over the limit), for about 3 - 5 miles, my wife trying to keep up on her Monster, when all of a sudden his motor blows, blowing out enough white smoke to hide a carrier task force. I felt bad for the guy but he was with others and a support vehicle, (which most H/D's from the 80's needed) so he was going to be OK.

Of course, this was all in fun and I really do not care what you ride as long as you ride.
