1. No un-justified personal or dealer attacks. 2. Keep the content Guzzi related. No room for Politics or Religion debates here. 3. There is no room for "raunchy" posts. 4. Posting of for sale items allowed only in the classified section. Failure to adhere to these simple, common courtesy, common sense rules will result in your being banned to ever post on the Moto Guzzi Discussion site again. That being said, Enjoy the Guzzi talk. Good to hear from you, has been a while, but also a bit confused at what you are getting at unless it has to do with a couple of recent understandably locked threads.

I agree with JB.  What rules of General Discussion forum don't you understand?   Where does BMW, Triumph, airplanes, guns, Ducati, Anheiser-Busch, Whirlpool, personal ailments, deaths of celebrities, etc. fit into those rules?  We have 2 moderators but I think they are too easy.   No, I don't want to be a moderator here.  Just would like to see the rules stuck to.

Have mercy.

The NGC threads will fade soon: http://days.to/spring/2015   ;D

Of course, then the Southern Hemis will start their "off topic" threads to get them through The Long Dark.

For most of us, the snow -- 6 - 10 inches ahead here today -- and cold and salt and cinders, etc., make wildguzzi a respite from reality.

The discussion of what concerns us is part of what makes us a community.  We we're initially brought together through our love of Moto Guzzis, but we have morphed into more.  When one of us reaches out to the members of this forum for advice, Guzzi related or otherwise, we should be flattered.  I view the forum kinda like a good gumbo, a variety of ingredients and the Guzzi content as the rich sauce.  You never know what's in the next bite.

BTW anyone notice that I woke up hungry this morning.  Think I'll fix me a big bowl of steel cut oats. :food

Another fan of our moderators here. I'm a grownup; if I find something boring or off-topic, I click away. No big deal. Low quality threads and posts will die of their own accord.

Guilty.  A couple of NGC threads I've started or contributed to have to do with dogs, health, family, guns and maybe trucks or bridges.

I've had an '86 LM IV since new, have had a Cal III Touring and Monza, then a few other brands.  The LM has been my only motorcycle for about five years now and being pretty well sorted, there isn't a whole lot to discuss about it that hasn't been said several times.

Are there other places to go and post about interests, look for help or share what's going on with us on the web?  Of course.  Could be a matter of most of us having several interests, or needing a NGC question answered and knowing that there's a wide range of experience and interests here and who better to ask than forum buddies?  It could be a matter of some convenience too.

I'd miss the photo threads that aren't Guzzi related, as I would hate to see posts about a member's health or need or general question banned.  If all I posted about was my LM IV, it would (has) become stale and redundant quickly.

Firearms, religion, politics?  Hot button topics, sure.  The mods do a very good job permitting some lattitude, especially since this is a one-room house.

Now, about my LeMans IV, it's red, benefited from flywheel lightening and headwork, runs like a freight train, and since buying a Corbin saddle from a forum member, no longer eats my a** on 600 mile days.  It could do with a new clutch, and having the valve guides K-lined, but our dog's passing and now my mother's very poor health has taken priority over winter wrenching.

Four inches of snow on the ground in Memphis today.  No Guzzi riding till this clears.

Tobit.

 :bow to the moderators

and also to the community here. There's a good balance of entertaining topics with solid motorcycling content. The mods only seem to have to step in occasionally, as many conflicts have been self-correcting. I've learned to ignore topics that don't interest me.

I was an Adv member for many years, that forum morphed from a tight knit BWM focused community to a forum rife with commercialism, dodgy commercialism (some of it by the moderators), heavy handed moderation (I was nearly banned for participating in a discussion about Wyzenbeek fabric testing), piracy (flogging stolen service manuals), trolls, and flame wars.

And I've moderated internet groups and forums, it's a thankless task....bravo for our moderators!!!

Great board, great moderators.  We strike a happy balance here with the "around the camp fire discussion idea."  Oil, tires, points vs electronic ignition, etc..., this all gets old quickly.  Now, what kind of new washer or truck to buy, do you have your personal affairs in order?, check out my dogs, etc..., I like that kind of stuff.  Gives me a glimpse into the personal lives of the many and varied folks on this board.  The NGC really keeps things interesting around here, especially with 2 feet of snow still on the ground.

Seems as though what Luap , Rocker , and let's not forget Chett , expect us to do, is respect the spirit of the rules . Maybe the reason why WG is thriving , and certain other forums aren't , is the very nature of the campfire  ;-T

Thanks everybody.

I've just combined a few similar threads into one.

Most of you know that Luap and I are the two active moderators, Luap being our administrator.  Chet is our other administrator, but he has had some family distractions that have kept him busy over the past couple years, and he has been unable to be as active on the forum.

Luap and I both spend a lot more time than you might imagine here on WildGuzzi, trying to ensure that it's a good Guzzi community forum.

Even then, we do miss some things.  No way to read every post in every thread, so we thank those who send us messages about things we should look at.

I've been fortunate enough over the past 2.5 years to have the time to offer as a moderator, and have been glad to do it.  This forum has been a great benefit to me over the past dozen years, and it's just one little way I can help pay it forward.

I, too, am looking forward to the seasonal change in posts that will be coming in the next few weeks, as the campout/rally season kicks off down South.

Nothing like ride reports and photos to help keep the Guzzi fire burning.
