Got the CX started, the rear tire is almost toast. Found an almost new shinko in the pile..Running lean on the right at idle..hummm was ok when I shut it down a few months ago...Change the oil? naaa bearly used.
I'm shoot'in to be on my way Monday or early Tuesday....soooo!!

We will see how my fortitude holds up (and my enthusiasm  for riding w/my knees in my face!)

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

The G5 (group of 5)  is currently in Twin Falls, ID.  Lots of showers, lots of wind, low 50s most of the day.

For you folks worried about the weather , here is what our local forecasters are saying . The storms won't move in until late Wed afternoon , and by Thurs early afternoon it will be clearing . Certainly it is a good idea to keep watch on the weather , but it looks like exercising some judgement will allow the long distance travelers to dodge the storms .

Remember , we have a very large pavilion to shelter under , and it is a 45 second ride to a serious shelter . As The Turnip says , if you watch the weatherman you'll never go anywhere

Many years ago, when Guzzi NA used to hold "Guzzi days" in Virginia, a reporter came up to Tex and asked if he had ridden all that way. He looked at his bug covered muddy motorcycle with the long range tank strapped on the back, shifted his seegar, and said.. "Well, no. I looked at the weather man on the TV and put her on the trailer."

I would take 59 to 82 up to Salina and then ride on up to Spavinaw, (then turn around and come back to Salina and do it again). Continue taking 82 up to US 60. At that point just zig zag east and north on 60 to 169 to 10 to 75 to 166. Once there just go a little bit west and you're at Cedar Vale.

Watch the weather!
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!

Yeah , about that "alleged" Viking site , all the locals know that most of it was done by a railroad worker who lived in Heavener . Of course they won't tell tourists that  It is still cool though.

The G5 is now in Green River UT. I like Green River because Ray's Tavern puts out a good burger. Cold, wind and sporadic rain from Twin Falls to Provo. Spitting snow on Soldier Summit southeast of Provo. The sun cam out in Price UT and all is good now. Our destination for tomorrow is Pueblo Co and Dakota Hot Springs.

OK , here is the tentative itinerary for this year .

First arrivals on Wednesday will likely be treated to something special from Davedel for evening meal
no idea what it will be , but he is a wonderful cook . We will set the donation jar out for Dave , seems fair .

Thursday will be a riding day for some of the early arrivals , with more folks arriving from across the country . Thursday evening meal will be kind of a group effort between Dave , Rod , me , and whoever else wants to help , Rod seems to come up with something good every year , same drill with the donation jar .

Friday will see breakfast at the cafe , followed by a ride thru the windmill farm and the Tall Grass prairie reserve in Oklahoma , just a leisurely 150 mile round trip , Pawhuska has some interesting sights .
Friday evening meal will be served by the CofC , BBQ same as last year , part of the fund raiser we are doing for the city . It was very good last year .

Sat breakfast in the park provided by the Lions Club , also part of the fund raising . The bike show downtown will start about 1 PM , with desert provided in the museum . Last year the local ladies outdid themselves and provided incredible homemade treats .
After the show and museum visit , about an hour , it is free form until Saturday evening catfish fry, we'll start serving about 5:30 so Luap and LaSondra have time to eat and get home before dark .

Last but not least will be the closing ceremony in the pavilion , with our MC Smithswede , and his more than able assistant Beaver . Ask anyone who was there last year, they will testify that these two know how to keep everyone laughing . We have some great giveaways provided by "The King Of Fleece" , along with a couple of other fun things . We will have the traditional 50/50 drawing , won last year by Turnip , he stated it was the first time he ever won anything at a rally

Obviously we have a few surprises , some planned , some will simply happen .

Getting close folks , get those deposits in , and help spread the word , the more the merrier .

Oh , Bill L , if you guys get there on Tuesday , go down to City Hall and they will turn on the electricity and unlock the facilities for you .

Let's make this one the best yet  :thumb:

OK Ken , now you get to tell them about the contest

The G5 is now the G4. Marlin Hoeres got tired of the wind and rain and turned toward Pheonix where he has a rich (and very old) aunt.
The rest of us headed East from La Sal Junction into CO for the best roads east of Oregon. Roadkill's juicedrive trike pulled over Monarch Pass with ease and we are now unsupervised in Salida CO.

 Here we go  :thumb:

The weather forecast calls for warm and humid , chance of scattered T storms on Thursday , 77 and pleasant on Friday for our ride thru the windmill farm and over to Woolaroc .

We have a couple of surprise visitors this year , we will get to introduce them to "our" little village of Cedar Vale , and make some new friends  :thumb:

Still not to late for any of you hold outs to make the trip .

Signing off now , will see you guys later today , should get there early afternoon .

Have great rides , be safe , and have fun .
