Well Dusty. After two years of planning our 'LAST HURRAH" is finally happening. Sailing down the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers. Beautiful weather, great company of mainly Ozzies but a few Kiwis and Poms. A most fantastic trip. Just been to Salzburg on the Majstic Imperator train. JUST BRILLIANT. :thumb:

Got up nice and early and was out by 7am, just over an hours ride before stopping for a full english breakfast and a mug of tea. tootled back home via a few 2nd hand shops and motorcycle dealers. Was running near empty as I aproached home (11am) pulled into a gas station, filled to the brim and with a spring in my step and a bounce swung my leg over my bike - only to land on my left testicle, my left leg went into imediate involuntary spasms reminiscent of an Elvis dance move, it was touch and go for a second whether I'd drop the bike but some how pulled throught. It started to rain which put a further dampener on it. It's still raining now. Oh well, live and learn. All in all not a bad day, caught the best part of the day, home before noon, avoided near catastrophe and later got some decorating done on whats been for the most part a very wet day.

Got a late start after wasting time on WG and drinking too much coffee, but made up for it.

First a nice bicycle ride to remind myself how out of shape I am, then a stop at one of my favorite diners on the V7 to make up for the lost calories. After the late breakfast, got caught in some horrific traffic on a secondary road with no way out for a good 20 mile span.  Fairly par-boiled, I gave up on my original destination and took the first fast and empty road and stayed with that theme.  Ended up being a pretty nice day despite the traffic hassle.  Even took a gratuitous pic on one of those empty roads.

Pretty good except that I'm still waiting for the Norge to arrive in Sydney from Felixstowe post Europe 2017. I didn't seem to miss it being away as much last year while waiting for the ship to arrive but maybe I'm getting fond of it after the 100,000km. Did France, Italy (Stelvio) across to Romania (Transfagarasan) and back around the top of the Adriatic via Slovakia , Bulgaria Sarajevo, Bosnia and all that, down to Southern Italy via Mandello and Rome then back through France to the UK. Norge was faultless which was pleasantly surprising and turned over the 100,000k at 200 k south of Paris. Wishing it was back in Australia now though, I've had enough of not having it here and  the Le Mans is un registered. Hmmmmmm...

Sorry Dusty. our mobile device is for some reason not talking to our network. The resident IT guys can't work out why so I am limited to the ship's network. I can't download any of the pics I have taken. Still having a great time. :thumb:

My wife gave me a gift this morning - 'how about I take care of the kids and you get a ride in' sort of gift.  Went exploring and ended up in Burnsville near Mt. Mitchell.  We may be looking for land someday for a cabin and we want to be close to a town with some things going on.  We'll be heading back there to check things out but looks like a cool town, not too precious, real mountain town.  I realized my favorite roads are these mountain highways where I can roll on the throttle in a sweeper and pull up to 80 or so with natural beauty all around.  Great ride, no pics, just in my head.

Apart from being sick as parrots with the flu the last week has had some high points......

The Beach at the base of the Cliffs of Achill. Last time we were here there were unattractive old Germans naked on the beach. That was 23 years ago. This time as we stumbled around another German couple stripped off and rushed into the freezing Atlantic swells! Luckily this time they were young and beautiful and obviously very much in love. It was very sweet.

Even Ireland has assholes!

Pre Viking Celts inspecting their new home! Note the coffee cup. I picked that up because it had been thrown on the ground of this ancient site by another asshole of indertiment origin. Litterers should be pilloried!

Belfast offers many fine attractions!

If you're interested in the provenance of the last two do a search on 'Beat Carnival Belfast'. A great project run for a lifetime by our very own 'Belfastguzzi' who posts here from time to time.

Interesting shall we say

At 15:30 on Wednesday I left the office in Aberdeen with a view to grabbing something to eat, checking in, flying south and then a 90 minute drive to get me home in Gainsborough at about 22:00

It didn't happen like that

At 18:00 they cancelled the flight due to fog and a hole in the runway.

Got booked on to the 07:00 flight the following day

After as lot of fannying about the airline eventually found a hotel and I rolled in there are 21:00

Next morning I'm up bright  and early at 04:30, went to the airport and checked in at 05:30. I immediately discovered that the 07:00 flight had been delayed until 08:00 due to a "sick" crew.

Sat around until 08:00 when they ........ cancelled the flight due to fog at the airport the flight was starting from

Rang my travel people this time and discovered that the 10:00 was full so the only flight option was the 14:30.
Also worked out that going by train would get me back down south only an hour later than waiting for the 14:30 flight so opted to train it down and take out the weather as a variable

Off we went on the train to Edinburgh where I needed to change trains to get over to Birmingham International airport - with a 30 minute transfer built in - perfect.

Didn't plan for the busted signals on the Forth Rail bridge so rolled in to Edinburgh an hour after the connection had left

An hours wait in Edinburgh and then caught the next train south, got the car and arrived at the house at 22:00.
Exactly 24 hours later than I thought I was setting out to do

It was an interesting 30 hours or so from leaving the office to arriving home

Drove from Asheville to Miami Florida to see my son conduct one of his jazz compositions at Frost School of Music.  Music was great.  Drive was fine - took my underpowered but fun Suzuki SX4.  Breakfast with my son coming up.

Some dumb SFB stole my debit card info and tried to charge 600 at Bloomingales, 700 at Motorola. Discovered when I tried to get gas the card was shut down. Had to get a card with new numbers. Now I'm busy changing account info for all my auto pays. Yay.

Been in bed for two days with a bronchial infection. Got the old Z-Pak getting into the system. Since I am prone to pneumonia the docs want to place me in the hospital. No way. I know that they are trying to help, but with a compromised immune system I am afraid that If I go in I wont come out. Any way, the Z-Pak is kicking in and I will be up and about within a week. In the meantime its sleep, read, sleep, read, sleep, read.....

Pretty good thanks Dusty.

Spent my day wrenching. I had changed al the fluids out just before it came off the road for winter. However, I had been procrastinating on some of the other jobs so today I bit the bullet. I had already purchased a new set of the black rocker box gaskets so it was off with the old and painfully remove all traces of them, set the clearances and bolt it up. Next it was on to the fork oil. I must admit, I cannot for the life of me work out the Italians. The old Matchy had a drain hole in the bottom of the fork. Undo top nut, undo bottom screw, drain and refill. The Italians, take apart half the bike, take the front wheel off, the forks out , upend, then fill and retrace your steps.   Clean out air cleaner, but that was pretty good so it is going to do another round.

Bike fired straight up after 4 months hiatus, nice and quiet. The clearances were only out a couple of thou but it has made a huge difference to the clatter. Will road test tomorrow and see what the forks feel like. The old oil was just beginning to show it's age.

An enjoyable day.
